Fresh Engine. Low Compression

i assembled the block they did the heads. when i ringed the pistons the rings were alittle tight but they spun and moved i didnt think anything of it..... i fubared this one. but the rings and pistons came together so i just assumed they were right. i need 1.5mm rings not 1.9...... oh well live and learn. ill check next time.

ok so i think i figured it out. all the pistons had the same :poo: in the lands. a mix of what looks like teflon off the side of the pistons, and very fine metal shavings from the cylider walls. i do not think i cleaned the block well enough before assembly. all the bearings look great, lucky me. so as to not make the same mistake again i will scrub and wipe the walls down better this time. idk what to do about the teflon coating however. hopefully it wont spur any more issues. ill post pics later today.

And you are sure this^ prevented the engine from running??? I've seen motors with far more shiet in them run like champs. I think your chasing the wrong problem imo

IMAG0260.jpg IMAG0259.jpg ok you can see the rings are stuck. i have to pry them out of the piston. they did come loose after 24hrs soaking in a tub of carb cleaner.

ok so the car gods smited the shiz out of me. Took all the stuff down to my local go fast shop and they said "well you **** up" exact words. they cleaned up the block for me and i assembled her again. this time i used the cast rings nothing fancy, there was minimal damage to the cyliders but they said it was nothing to be concerened over. so just waiting for decent weather to drop it back in.:burnout:

took it for the maiden voyage today. plenty of power but a tick started to develop so off came the valve covers...... damn 1.72rr lost a roller tip. put the stockers back on problem solved (for 20mins). took it back out for another spin and the clutch felt spongey, bought the swap parts off cl and used em all so this one was not surprising. after a spirited drive, pulled back in the yard and behold the tick is back. much less noticable but i could here it with the hood up. now the question is am i hearing a slight header leak or is a lifter not pumping up.
