Bent Pushrods, Floating Valves?

Ouch. Really bad news for you. As others have said, that motor is muerte. The game plan now is determine how much you want to spend and what the use is for the car

Options are depending on your budget 1-20 grand

1. JY explorer motor and swap over your accessories, distributor, new springs and cam
2. LMRS budget short block and a your choice of top end and accessories.
2-a. Jasper or other reman long block
2-b. Ford short or long block
3. Aftermarket block, forged internals, alum heads and top end kit
4. 351 based JY motor swap
5. Mod motor swap- 2v, 3v, coyote

Personally, I'd find an explorer motor for a few hundred bucks- put in new rear main seal, oil pump and hardened shaft, new pan, valve cover, intake, thermostat gaskets, new valve springs, a decent cam and maybe a fresh set of bearings. You'll have a decent motor that will make anywhere from 260-280 hp for around a grand if you shop around.

It's ironic really... my buddy had exactly this happen to his car a few weeks ago. He was half loaded from a night of drinking and reving his car in the driveway to p*ss off the neighbors and the balancer came shooting out of the bottom of the car. It was epic!

Sorry yall i hadnt been on, but yes i went the explorer donor motor route, i bought the car with dreams of putting a boosted coyote in it lol, anywho any body have an idea how to take the a/c condenser + compressor out? also the best way to get the block out with two people and no hoist? (parked on a hill)

DO NOT REMOVE OR DESTOY YOUR A/C!!!!

If it's broke, fix it....removing A/C is the dumbest move a person can make on a non race car application.

You should be able to get a new balancer through Ford, as I'm pretty certain the Explorer balancer is different. All 302's after 1982 are 50oz balance.

You'll want to install your stoch HO cam as well as a new set of valve spings into the Explorer heads. The stock Explorer springs aren't up to the task.

If memory serves, the explorer balancer is a different configuration than the one on the mustang. It's still a 50oz dampener, but it's not the same .

Underdrive pulleys are up to you. Personally I wouldn't use them if you're still using the stock 75 amp alternator, but if you're using one of the 3G style 95, or 130 amp units, you should be able to get away without charging issues. Just remember, the smaller underdrive crank pulley will also turn both your waterpump and your A/C compressor at a slower rate as well, reducing their effectiveness.

It's a personal choice really.

Spend the $50 and get a new stock balancer. As Brian said, replace the explorer valve springs, retainers and seals when you put in the HO cam. Also, prime time to put a new H2O pump in and thermostat.

Do not put on pulleys unless you upgrade the Altermator- even then I would get the smaller alt pulley.
