I think I killed the thread.

I did once. I had to break loose the u-joint bolts from the axle pinion flange. I think I was at 180 psi, but it didn't blow up the impact gun on me.

haha the high pressure is to increase capacity of the tank with out actually making it bigger

glad you didnt hurt yourself

Same here. Programmer\Machinist... You guys use HAAS? :bang:
i trained on haas, but the last two shops ive been in have been okuma, which are a lot more rigid than the haas mills i ran in school and the programming and setup are almost identical except for how they call offsets. afaik the only controllers out there that are weird are the mazak and hurco (conversational machines), most everything else is either built by or modeled after fanuc.

I always liked Fadals with the boxways. I think the linear bearings are sh*t.

But I may be represented by one of the little guys above. Definitely not the finances to have an expensive hobby, but me and my family are blessed and provided for.

I have a BS in Mathematics and a AS in Engineering, but I work as a parts counterman at a Toyota dealership. Finished school in 08 when the economy was dead, and after 6 months of looking for work I wound up back at Advance Auto and eventually the Yota dealership. Worked as a CNC Laser operator for a while too but honestly parts pays more and is easier on the body. My job basically consists of joking around with friends all day and dealing with car parts and accessories.

every fadal i've seen has been a huge pile of :poo:, i ran two of em the first job i worked, and the little one had the x-axis servo just fall off one day, seriously, all the bolts (4x 1/4-20 cap screws) backed out and the whole servo and encoder was just hanging by the harness. the gibs on that machine also loosened/wore so bad that the table visibly shook with anything bigger than a 3/4" drill bar, and chattered in the 1-3 o'clock positions on a cricular interpolation no matter what you did, not that it really mattered since non of them can interpolate a full true circle anyway. but at least they were easy to clean out, and you didnt have to be a short japanese person to get in to empty ridiculously small and hard to get to chip bins like all the okumas i've ran (seriously, theres no way to clean those things out without getting covered in metal unless you're less than 5' tall).

Started out as a CNC machinist lathe and mill (Okuma, Mazak, Haas, Nakamura, and Hurco) Have only had 3 jobs and have spent almost half of my 36 years at the same job where the last 11 years have been in leadership. Currently the manufacturing unit manager at a major aerospace bearing manufacturer.

For those awesome folks in our military, the main shaft engine bearing in the Abrahams A1 tank is made right here in New Hampshire!
