I would like to buy some lowering springs, shocks, and struts for my 91 LX Vert but I’m a newbie regarding suspension on Fox bodies. That being said, I have questions that you all may be able to answer. The car has had the 5-lug conversion done using 1998 cobra 13” front brakes and spindles along with a 1998 GT rear end. My question is will those mods dictate which lowering springs, shocks, and struts I need to buy or should it be the same through the 2004 model? I’m trying to avoid any interference issues. Thanks

some kits come with the caster camber plates and other stuff. I learned this when doing my 4cyl swap - the strut tower mounts changed in 1990 I think? also they are probably different between sn95 cars. I think the springs mostly interchange

Did you do your brake swap or did you buy your car that way? With all of the brake swaps i've read on i've never heard anything about changing struts or springs to accommodate.

I bought it that way from the PO. Well, for the most part anyway. I had to do some of the finishing touches and hook up the e-brake.
I hadn't heard that either but I wanted to ask before I ordered a bunch of stuff and ran into problems.

Sorry I can't give you a concrete answer but I'm sure somebody will soon. I'm keeping my mustang simple by avoiding too many swaps. I'd hate to have to go into a parts store and order parts from 4 different types of cars all for one vehicle to maintain over the years.

I am sure it will work either way, I used 01 Bullitt Struts, Shocks, and Springs on my car when I did my Brake Conversion.
I do remember the Strut mounting point being slightly lower on the 94/95 Spindles on my car and my CC Plates also raising the upper mounting point though.

two ways to go IMO

1- H&R or Steeda sport springs, Tokico blue struts and shocks, MM caster camber plates. new poly spring isolators
2- MM/bilstein front coilover kit and rear shocks, Steeda or H&R rear springs, MM CC plates

I would also add the following if you don't have it

MM full length subframce connectors
MM rear lower control arms

That will give you a very reliable, strong, and much superior setup over stock. You should also check the condition of your torque boxes.

One of the best reference sites is Maximum Motorsports, They have great tech. Jack Hidley is a great guy and will steer you in the right direction. You will not find better quality or engineered parts. Remember you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the information.
I agree with your statement about getting what you pay for.
I would rather wait, save up the money, and buy quality stuff.

SN95 spindles and brakes will space the wheels out, so if you have wide wheels in the standard offset, you can't slam the car or the front tires will rub. Other than that, the struts and cc-plates can be year specific. The spindles on the V8 cars changed in 87 and the strut towers changed in 90.

Springs and shocks/struts, you want to order for the year of your car. Things like caster camper plates also should be purchased to the year of your car.

The brakes are SN95 but that's about it. Everything else can be fox specific.

Now the main issue is having an entire 1998 rear is the rear wheels being pushed out and making contact with the fender lips requiring some fender rolling.

The rear fenders have been rolled already by the PO.

Tokico Blues are discontinued.
