Hey dudes.

My seat belts are getting tired. Rather than replace them with the inferior and obsolete direct replacement parts, I'm considering a retrofit from a newer car. I was hoping you guys could help me out by posting pictures along with letting me know what year your car is, so I can have an understanding of what might fit and what I should order. These are the pics I'm looking for:

Buckle.
Tongue (the metal thing that goes into the buckle).
D-loop (the thing up on the b-pillar that the belt runs through).
End fitting (belt attachment point down at the floor next to the seat).

Bonus points if you can get the following:

Belt retractor (will be buried behind the wall trim).
Buckle anchor point, with buckle still attached (the seat will have to be removed to get a clear shot of this).

Thanks dudes!

Seat belts are one of those parts that are very model specific. You can go to a harness, which is a hassle for a daily driver, or have them rebuilt. I think we used safetyrestore.com last time we rebuilt a seat belt.

My passenger seat belt stopped working, so I replaced it with Schroth Racing Harness, D.O.T. certified, only seat belt company that I know of that is.

I have looked into that sort of thing, but I think I'd like to stay with a conventional 3-point system for street use.

You're right, seat belts are model specific, but when has that stopped us from modifying our cars? ;)

One of my driving factors for this is that I want to get away from the old GM RCF-67 side-release buckle that came stock in these cars and is known to suffer inertial release during a crash (and as such, has been the target for a million lawsuits over the years). I'd like to go to a more modern end release buckle, which are much safer.

For reference-

What you might be able to do is get the belts to an SN/new edge out of the junk yard. You could probably even do this through Mustang Parts Specialists too. I'm pretty sure you can bolt the release button end to the tunnel. Then have a seat belt rebuilder put a new belt on your reels with the SN tab end. That way you can use your model specific inertia reels with the SN belt ends.

i could have sworn i saw a thread a long while ago (like a few years ago) about swapping sn95 belts in with the sn seats, but if i did its been so long that i dont remember who did it (i think it was one of the guys swapping the whole sn interior) or what the end results were.

i just looked up the sn belts on lrs (they only have the retractable part on there that as far as i can see) and how it mounts looks similar to how the fix works, and i would almost bet it would swap right in.

i did stock replacements from lrs in mine, and they do feel a little on the cheap side. the retractor isnt that great (which is why i replaced the stockers in the first place) and they tend to want to fold over in the d-loop.
