Plastic Dip Question?

id sooner rather see you spend the extra money like nick and wrap the car . the plasti dip scares me i have seen paint come off with it .

I agree with @TOOLOW91 for an extra $500, depending on brand, you can wrap it. Although this is harder to do yourself, you can. Just buy extra vinyl, grab a few friends, a blow-dryer and have at it.
I know he isnt shy about spending to do the right thing id even like to see it professionally done like nicks car it would make his car night and day and when hes ready for paint nothing has changed underneath

Oh yea! I have really got into vinyl recently. I have tons of samples by great companys such as Oracle, Avery, 3m, etc and some not so great companies like vivvid. Stuff looks Amazing! Great for a dd or a racecar. Hell professional all the way if you can swing it. Any pics of Nicks car on the site?

Thanks for the compliments!
The car is wrapped in Hexis metallic green and has carbon fibre vinyl on the hood and rockers. The cage is actually painted with house of kolors lime time metallic green. I love my vinyl to the point where my 2015 that is coming will be wrapped in the same vinyl to match this car. Almost everyone that has seen the car in person has believed it was paint

Ah yea, Hexis is good stuff too. I guess I couldn't see the metallic due to the picture. Did you have it professionally done? Your car is a beast btw :nice:. Hopefully one day I can own or work in a shop that does nice jobs like this.

Well if you want to talk about doing it right, vinyl is much preferable to plastidip. It would be so much lighter and better looking . But Rino Liner would be an awesome redneck answer.

I had a local shop Designer Wraps do my car (milville NJ) and couldn't be happier with the results. They will be wrapping my 2015 as soon as it gets here. The wheels in that picture are in fact the weld RTS black wheels. I had sent the rear wheels out to be beadlocked at macfab. The car is currently sporting some black billet specialties comp5 wheels and double beadlocks in the rear

Wow! That carbon looks like it's perfect. The close up really shows more detail. Hopefully I'll be visiting Jersey soon, as my "brother" is from East Orange (I'm sure you're worlds apart). I was just looking at the RT-S today. They have a good backspacing for my rear wheels! Can I get a brief description of beadlocking?

Beadlocks are mechanical clamps that hold the bead of the tire to the rim. The outside lip of the rim is removed and the clamping device is welded on. You can actually change the tire without a tire machine while be it a real pain in the @ss though. When you start getting into the 1.2x 60' times and faster there tires can noticeably slip inside the wheels and this prevents it. I'm hoping to see the car 60' in the 1.teens in our next track outing if the surface is decent enough for the power.
This is a better picture of the beadlocked wheel. You can see all of the bolts clamping the tire to the wheel

I love the vinyl wrap but im sure its alot of money compared to plastic dip ...and im having it done not doing it with spray cans..LOL...for what it worth the car needs to be painted anyways so for now its better then what it looks like now....

The vinyl wrap on my car was about 1,500$ The shop that did it does a lot of high end cars and I feel they really gave me a fair deal. They even offered to knock the price down for putting their sticker across the back window of the car (which I gladly did:)) as they were looking to expand their customer base into the race car market. My car gets a ton of attention everywhere it goes. The body work on the car is less than perfect and if you look hard enough you can see all of the small dings and imperfections in the body but I am not as critical as most people. Deep down on the inside she is still one ugly beast!
This is as they were wrapping the car. They had it a total of 3 days start to finish
