As the title states there is a 8.5 O/L race in Bakersfield Ca. this coming week end and Walter and myself are taking his 93' Convertible Mustang down to Cali for the race and see if we can do any damage.

This is the link from earlier this year. Since then (last weekend) we have gone 5.73 @ 124 plus. We are hopeful that at Famosa we can really put the coals to it as so far this year to get the car to 60' well we have been leaving with 12+ degrees of timing pulled out of the engine. It is all about the first 60-100 feet with a small tire car to get it to run a good number. Having run it out the back door only once early this year and going 8.92 off the throttle at 157+mph we have the HP to run a much better number in the 1/8. Last fall at Famosa the record for a 26x8.5 tire car was set with a 4.9 something pass, so if the same "hook" is in the track we hope to be able to run some 5.3's or so runs which we hope will make us competitive. Time will tell. Either way we look forward to it as we are going up against cars we have not seen yet and that is always more exciting than running against the same group over and over again. We are leaving Thursday at noon to start the tow down, supposed to be 100 plus degrees for Fri/Sat but at least there will not be much humidity.

Thanks guys. If all goes well this weekend then we are probably going to go to the big shootout in Las Vegas in November. If everything goes right with my build, I may be able to take my own car as well. I had a meeting with the fab shop last night and I hope to get my car back in 2 weeks, but at this point there have been so many delays it would not surprise me if that deadline got extended as well.
