Need some input. Drove car home from local cruise in and got on it a little in town and i look back and big blue smoke cloud. I drove it around tonight and it did mot smoke when it was cold but it warms up and it starts smoking! It smokes the most after it sits an idles then i take off and give it moderate gas. The oil gauge reads good pressure i need help on diaging this issue

Blue smoke is oil. Why would a vac leak cause oil smoke? I could see black, running rich smoke from a vac leak.
Does it smoke when started after parked on an incline? Does it smoke when you let off the throttle?

It could be a number of things that will cause the smoke..but i'm thinking bad valve seals. Also you could have too much oil in the engine.Hey it happens because 5.0 dipsticks are tricky ...some people add oil to the word full instead of the # marks/safe range on the dipstick. Too much oil will cause the smoke bad valve seals will cause smoke and clogged breather filter/pcv valve will cause it too.

Have not pared it on incline and not when i let off throttle that i can tell just under moderate accel

What or where is the breather filter? Found PCV valve and it looked to be wet with oil!!! I will start there but would like to check this breather filter

The breather filter is under the pcv valve it looks like a little metal basket...it's hard to see. You will need a flash light/work light to see it plus you will need a long pick to remove it. Did you check the pcv by shaking it to see if you hear a rattle? or did you replace it?

I shook it yes, it rattles a little should it? And when i remove the screen do i discard or clean and re install?

The breather my be the problem if it's clogged but if not you my need new valve seals or you may have too much oil in the engine. Some dipsticks are different in some 5.0 mustangs..but if your oil goes to the word full it's got too much oil and that will cause the blue smoke. I have seen a lot guys put too much oil in ..because when they change the oil they never drain the front oil drain plug. Not to say that's you but it happens and will cause it to smoke.

Ok i could see the breather screen and if it is supposed to just be screen then i believe it maybe clogged!!! I was not able to get screen out though, we have a pic tool at work so im gonna drive it to work tomorrow and see if i cant get it out. Heres a question can i just block off pcv valve for drive to work tomorrow or just unhook it from that hole back there and see if it still smokes? Or will that cause vacuum leaks?

I would just keep everything together until you can check it out/clean or replace it.Also you could check your spark plugs to see if any of them are foul and have oil on them. If none of the plugs have oil on them your valve seals should be okay..also blue smoke is oil a vacuum leak would cause it to run rich and it would be black smoke. Every vacuum leak i ever had ...my car never smoked but it ran like crap.

I hope there is not a reason there is so much oil in the PVC system. But one thing at a time.

Why I was asking if it smokes blue when you let up is that indicates bad valve guides. So does smoking on firing up after a short park, especially on an incline.

Smoke on acceleration is more likely worn rings.

Black is fuel, white is coolant.

Smoking at 4:20 probably means it is a Colorado car.
