Car Smoking

These cars are prone to blow by if you don't keep the PCV system in good order. Replace the old one, make sure the screen is in the bottom of the hole in the intake, make sure all the hoses are not cracked. Make sure the breather tube from the TB to the VC is on. Check all of the vacuum hoses.

I am so glad i asked you guys, i would have most likley pulled motor and put new rings and valve seals in. The othet site im part of had no advice at all :( I wrenched on cars for the last 6 yrs in a small car lot an have never seen or hears of one of these little guys but now i know and will help other out with 5.0s tell them just to change it out if they didnt know it was there. Thanks again

If the screen gets clogged up quickly, do leak down and compression tests before tearing anything more apart. I have sold the big umbrella stop smoking valve spring/stem kits. But these parts need some oil for lubrication and cooling. The only time I would use one is if it gets so bad that you are fogging the county for mosquitoes.

Worn parts mean less friction and more HP, right??? Flatheads and Ford small blocks are known to run hard even when severely worn. As long as the bearings do not spin and the oil pump shaft holds, it could run well until the day it dies. I hear if you ignore leaks, you can run with the intake and oil pan holding together a cracked block for the rest of your quarter mile run.
