Ok seriously (sorta) ... If you're buying the car to DRIVE and not as an investment then what does it matter? So long as you know exactly why the title was salvaged and are good with the conditions then press on.

Front end collisions scare the poop out of me. I think I'd pass on just about anything that was totaled for that reason. I'm not a big fan of quarter panel damage either.

The thing is: Lots of cars get salvage titles due to a simple excess in cosmetic damage that drove the repair costs to 80-ish% of the value of the car. :shrug:

Ensure that you know the conditions that the title was issued. There's really no other way to answer your question without that info.
 
Several years ago I let my daughter drive my 01' ZX3 Focus. She rear ended someone and it set off the air-bags. Cosmetically it had a scuff on the front bumper cover and little else, but it did wack the air bag sensor behind the front bumper cover and deployed the air bags. This in turn took out the windshield. The Ins. company totaled the car because of the cost to replace both air bags, the seat belt pre-tensioners, the SRS control module, the sensor behind the bumper cover and the windshield. There was no structural damage to the car or sheet metal at all. Just the front bumper cover was scuffed, not torn or ripped at all. Yet the car ended up with a "re-built" title all because the repair costs were over 40% of the vehicle value. I argued with them for a bit until they told me that they could total a vehicle for any reason or no reason. I even called the state inspector general and state insurance regulator and was told that they (the insurance company) could pretty much do what they wanted. So I ended up with a re-built title on an otherwise perfectly functional car minus the air-bags/windshield. So just because it has a rebuilt title does not mean that it had any structural damage or even sheet metal damage.
