the car is an 83gt gonna top it off with Holley demon 700cfm
Carb is a bit big for a street car.
Rule of thumb for street driven cars - multiply cubic inch x 2 and add 0-50 and that is the size carb to use. The 0-50 is the fudge factor depending on what kinds of mods you have. Stock is 0, 50 is hot HCI.

Speedpro are decent budget friendly pistons. Get some with valve reliefs in them not the flat tops that came in your motor. For a time tested budget top end, get set of JY explorer heads, swap the springs out with some TFS springs, and throw in a TFS1 cam. Check the message boards and ebay as guys are always selling these heads already upgraded. I also agree, a 600-650 cfm carb is plenty. You could be around 275-280 rwhp with this.

If it's really a budget build, just buy and explorer engine, swap the cam, change the springs, sell the intake.
Since you aren't going to a stroker, i see no reason to spend a bundle building a shortblock.
