So while sitting disconnected, the 16v battery dies... This in itself pisses me off. I always keep it topped off and it is less than 2 years old.
I spend 270$ on a new battery, put it in the car and charge that one. I charge it for 12 hours and check the battery to find that it has 3.52 volts... Now I'm getting more pissed
I spend the next 12 hours cooking the battery with the charger just so I can here it run... Still pissed off
I turn the switches on to start the car and the fuse for the fuel pump immediately blows... I'm ready to throw something at this point
I replace the $4.70 J case 30 amp fuse to try and trouble shoot the system and blow 2 more before I find the Weldon fuel pump controller burnt up. ($385 for this stupid thing)
I bypass the controller and start the car. After a brief and I mean very brief smile I see that the car is charging 22+ volts. The car ran for maybe 15 seconds before I shut it off. I walk around to the front of the car and the alternator is so hot that I can't even touch it... How does this happen? I have a hard time thinking that the alternator and battery are connected as the battery was completely disconnected. Oh well.. This car pisses me off. Now that the battery seems good (who knows for how long) the 2 month old alternator is crapped out. Does anyone make good parts anymore?

Rant over

22+ volts? Are those components capable of handling that?
Most of them are tolerant for a brief period and I didn't damage any electrical components that I know of, so that is a positive lol
Nick, sounds like the diode in the alt got fried. Sucks man. We've all been there.
I was thinking the same thing, it should be a warranty item with powermaster which is less of a big deal than needing to have the car running for Yellow Bullet Nationals this weekend.

These seemingly stupid little things all add up and drive me bonkers some times!

you should just trade me the car for a couple of jars of mustard
Last night around 10:00 I might have taken you up on that lmao!

nick we had the same issue with the power master alt on the turbo car. we sent it back over nighted and had it back on wednesday that week. they rebuilt it and put an internal regulator in it for us.

also if it makes you feel better we replaced the 3 month old starter last wednesday since the bendix broke. well after 3 starts the new starter broke the bendix also. this is the same brand starter we have ran in the 14:1 450" nitrous motor for years with no issues. but it cant handle an mild compression 363

This one has an internal regulator in it already, just crazy to have so many stupid problems.. glad i'm not the only one!
