Turbo Build

I'm just doing my research/homework now. But if that 76 that you have is making that kind of power then that would be plenty enough. I just like to get all the info I can when I research things like this. Also thins won't even be in the near future for me. But if I can start picking up parts soon, then the cost won't be as hard of a hit all at 1 time. As of now, I'll be using the budget power-adder...nitrous.

76mm is more than enough to make 1000+hp. Also Stangboy if you're planning on a turbo I'd swap to an auto trans.
A lot of people do that, but I HATE automatics. I would be willing to spend a little extra money to beef-up a T56 before I go to auto....but I know when you get into 4-digit and even high 3-digit hp numbers there are too many weak links in a manual setup. I guess I'm just stubborn.

Sorry for hijacking your thread @Nikia Hopefully the questions I asked answered some of the questions you might have had.

I'm in agreement on the manual trans vs auto. But with a turbo build there quite a few reasons why they do it. They are usually easier to drive/tune/run faster et's/and pretty enjoyable considering you're in boost with no knock off in between shifts. Yes it can be done with a manual but...?! Now with a blower/nitrous-n/a :nice:

I'm gonna throw this out there I've made the switch from manual to auto just for the same reasons that @A5literMan stated, hoping to get both the trans and turbo bought before this winter so I can get it for next spring show in ocean city

no apology needed for "stealing the thread". It's all good reading material. I appreciate everyone's input. I'm getting in way over my head and I know that getting into it. Yes I've driven boosted v8's, even a fox. Id like to make 550 maybe a little more. Should I drop a size in turbo? Afr heads? I can make that switch easy enough. There is 150*** on car. Motors do for a rebuild. New t5 in car, not that matters behind 550hp. I plan on a 2 year build. I guess I could just button up that 331 boost ready run that all summer, save for next winter and make real changes.

Turbo setups should be either custom or high end.
The second you start compromising quality or fit you have already done the idea of a turbo setup an injustice and you really should have just gotten a supercharger instead.
I don't really see the point in setting up a turbo to get you the same power as a $2000 vortech S trim that is 100% reliable and installs in a day.

The last On3 setup i saw fit so bad that a race shop that has a chassis shop on site decided it wasn't cost effective fixing. Says enough for me.

A friend has the on 3 kit, had a few minor fitment issues but thats all. Had a ponydown hot side a while ago, pretty good quality. If I was to do it again now, I would build it all myself.

Yeah i hear bad stories about fitment but mine fit great...and a few people i know of have there kit also no problems either...Also they did do changes to the kit..depends on what kit they got...mine is like a 2nd generation kit...VS 1st I heard was terrible...

So I am tossing around the idea of going blow threw. Thoughts? I'd rather have injection. But a friend here in town is telling me carb will be much easier to tune and much cheaper.
