Fox New Suspension Installation Advice

I've heard of this happening before with the Pro Kit. People have had to cut half a coil off to get the stance right while others had better results. Since I don't have my engine and transmission in my car right now I'm not sure if my rake is stink buggin' like yours is or not. I'm not afraid of the cut off wheel though.

For giggles you could put some sand bags in your trunk to expedite the settling of the springs.

Yeah, I'm not real crazy about the idea of hacking on a brand new set of springs. Especially when I don't know what the hell I'm doing.
I guess I'll let it ride for a little while and see of it settles any. I sure hope so....

From what I remember when I installed those on my 87 vert 15 years ago, they are progressive springs with different rates front vs. rear. I thought heavier rates on the rear for a vert so it might not drop as much/fast. You can try removing the isolators in the rear and see if it squeaks.

Well, I was able to get the stance a little more dialed in over the weekend. It looks much better. I think anyway. It should "settle" a bit more over time.
I ended up removing the upper and lower isolators and just wrapping the ends of the springs with a couple of layers of electrical tape. Just to keep it from being metal on metal. I also removed the quad shocks. I installed new ones but I really think they were "bottoming out" and not letting the rear end travel correctly. I also loosened the UCA and LCA, preloaded the rear end and then tightened everything back up.

NOW that's the right stance that looks sexxxy! God job. So what did you do to get it like that? Loosened stuff up and tightened it back up???? That's it?

Thanks, I'm happy with it now. Yeah pretty much. I didn't have to cut anything. I loosened up the upper and lower control arms, jacked up the rear end to simulate load, and then tightened it all back up.

That's awesome and that was NOT any advice that we gave you if I remember correctly. Way to go bro! I think that may be what I need to do but I need to get my engine & trans installed and let it sit before I do anything else.
Just sprayed my engine bay after finishing my wire tuck and smoothing!! Stoked!

Thanks man. Yeah, I come here for advice a lot. Most times I use it but sometimes I figure it out on my own. These guys on here have been great since I bought the car about 2 1/2 years ago. This is my first fox body so I've learned a lot.
Those progress photos of your engine bay are freakin' sweet. One day I'd like to take mine down to that level. Right now it's my DD. I've got 3 teenage kids milking my wallet dry right now though. My wife home schools so my income is what supports us. Not much left for ol' dad most times..lol

I understand bro! I'm the $$ maker too and I have a 5 y/o and twin 13 month old girls and I've worked OT for the last 4 months on the weekends. I feel your pain and your JOY. Time is limited and you just have to be patient and good things will come your way. You have a sweet vert, keep up the good work!

Thanks. Trust me, I'm not complaining. They grow up way too fast. Kids bring you the most joy and the most aggravation too but I wouldn't trade them for anything. I'm an engineering manager for a DOD contracting company but I do a lot of freelance engineering projects to try a supplement my Mustang addiction.:)

Glad you got the stance where you like it. I think i said to recommend removing the isolators and that the position of the pigtails will change the ride height. Mark the pigtail and the control arm so in case you need to remove the springs you know where they go back.

Hi all. I bought a 83 Foxbody, they did an engine swap prior. I have done some work on it, but for some reason it keeps stalling after 20-25 minutes of driving. It'll stop when it's in drive. It's fine in neutral. My mechanic just can't figure out what else to do. We changed the starter, battery, new spark plugs...
