K Member/control Arm Question

I took a look at Maximum Motorsports website with regard to your concern. Here is the article that I read. http://www.maximummotorsports.com/tech_front_susp_kmember.aspx The movement of the front wheel, they claim gives a better weight distribution on the car.

Why would you care if the arms are moved? They are moved because its better for handling and increases the wheelbase. There is no negative to moving the arms forward. If you are that worried about it though, they have rear offset arms that will keep the wheels in the stock location, it says so right on the website if you'd look.

IMO, UPR is a good K for drag racing and street driving where handling is not the #1 concern. Yes the UPR K can handle ok but not as well as the MM setup will. Conversely, the MM setup is damn near as heavy as the stock stamped piece and still isn't optimal for handling itself either. That distinction goes to the $4k+ SLA (short long arm) setups from Agent47 and Griggs. The MM setup is also $1100 more than the UPR.

All that said, if I am a stick shift street car that wants to handle well, I am getting the MM front kit with the forward offset arms to move the wheels up 1.5" which centers them in the wheel wells incidentally. If I am more concerned about straight line racing its hard to beat the UPR and it is fine on the street. If open tracking and serious then probably A47 front and eat Ramen for 6 months.
 
Really it is all about preference and type of driving. UPR and MM both sell a great product respectively. The UPR kit advertises to lose 66lbs over stock vs MM advertising theirs at 40lbs over stock. The MM kit does allow for tire movement forward to give a better road course and track stability. But if you are only DD your vehicle, it is hard to pass up on the cheaper of the 2 and that is UPR, and more wt reduction to boot. They both have great warranty programs on their parts, so that is not even an issue. So once again it is purpose driven and preference to whom to go with.
 
Eh, for DD its still all about your style of driving IMO. Lots of straight line and or an automatic, get the UPR or a Team Z. If you are a stick and like to fly around corners and have a lot of twisty roads near you... might want to look at the MM although the UPR will probably also be better than stock at least. The bigger issue with cornering AND launching in the pre S197 cars is that goddamn 4 link out back.
