Wile Coyote's stunt double
finaly got the stearing wheel today for Johnnys car. nice wheel ,just under $300 complete
the horn button is still back orderd but i have time. this car is dated august 66 its a real gt 390
4 speed ,350 limited slip, factory raven black ,red deluxe interior no air, its been in storage sense
Johnny passed in 1999 ,i started working on it again need to finnish it,found a matching #390
and big spline 4 speed . just a few pieces of chrome left to go and rebuild the 390 ,magstar wheels wont be cheap but thats what me and Johnny decided on,we figure its about forth or fifth day
production acording to the low production # no telling how low production 390 it is ,doubt they turned out very many 390s in the first 4-5 days. still have a hard time calling it my car now

thanks me and Johnny did all the work ,he was 12 when i gave him the car
thought he was going to wet his pants he was so excited, johnny bolted the inside in the car him selfe . the body was complete ,then he saw a shelby and decided thats the way it had to look. in 2005 i purchased all the fiberglass painted it and bolted it on
wish he could have seen it .put it back in storage till recently. i hope to get it finnished
this summer

Horse Sence, I don't know the background to this, but as a father of a special needs child myself, all I can say is bless you and good luck finishing the car.....sounds like Johnny is watching over you, checking on the details.

he was diagnosed with leukemia shortly after i gave him the car,his mother had to work to keep up with the bills so he stayed with me for months at a time ,he helped me restore a 56 chevy, i handed him a screw driver and a couple wrenches and told him if it looks like it comes off take it off ,he practicly took the whole car apart,i had a heck of a time putting it back together because i didnt know were the parts went but we sure had fun .wanted to finnish the mustang but everyone told me there was lots of time for that, take my word for it ,not always . he was my nephew but i thought
of him as my little buddy. now its time to finnish his car. his younger brother wants it but i just cant part with it,guess i will have to build one specialy for him

looks like things are turning around for me again, back to work FINALY.
i am wanting to get started on Johnnys car again. i made the nose section brace today. i had the measurements for the origional part ,took a couple hours but came out nice .it mounts behind the nose section and supports it and mounts the license plate .a little semi gloss black epoxy paint and it is ready to bolt in.i guess the grill will be next ,and bumpers. i have already made the new bumper brackets. they just extend 3 inches.

One of the shops asked me to fit the new 67 shelby grill and light assembly they are making . This is the first one .I had to weld the light brackets on the latch assembly ,to get the proper placement ,they will be welded on the finished assemblies .

I left the bracket in primer for now ,its a little dark in my shop and the red showed up a little better than black. Mounting the grills ,upper and lower ,was simple .positioning those brackets for the center lights took a bit .I mounted the grill and the latch assembly .

slid the lights in place ,clamped them to the bracket after centering them in the trim rings and screwed them down with self drilling screws

They want me to fit the out board light grill also ,i will be mounting that in my convertible in the next couple of days.
I really like the looks of the center light grill.

once i had the light positioned and screwed down all i had to do was bolt the top of the grill back down and adjusted it for the proper fit to the face of the headlights . It should only take an hour or two to fit the whole assembly to another car now that all the positioning has been done . Pretty sweet looking ,i really like the inboard lights .
