Build Thread The Hoopty Chronicles - New House, New garage, New Car?

I see your point, but the 02 sensors have nothing to do with starting the car, at least in that capacity. I am going to put a new fuel pump and regulator in and see what that nets me. Even if it isn't the problem, there is still nothing wrong with replacing the 25 yr old hardware before it fails on me at the wrong time.
try testing FP with a gauge on the rail as a starter to lead you in the right direction ?

I'm thinking maybe the PIP in the dist if the fuel pressure testing doesn't net you anything .
Oh. That's scary after reading all the trouble @LarsD has been having.

@jrichker - I read your PIP check out list in Lars' thread... But could it act up to cause hot start issues only and work fine when running? It read as if it would cause more problems than a hot start issue if it was indeed going bad.

For your sake I hope it isn't as bad as the issues he's having but with these cars lol you never no

Got to the point of putting the 3550 back in and called it a night. I was surprised to find a very recent clutch so I left it in. Will sell the cobra unit and recoup some cash.

Went a lot faster than I expected. But overall still sucks to do as much as I remember.

Also tracked down some Stock A arms with new bushings, will try and get those in this weekend too.

Transmission installed, 80 miles logged. Has an odd chatter coming through the shifter in 5th.

No lift 2-3 shifts with confidence today, world domination tomorrow.

Oh, and the speedo works after putting in a new cable.

My transmission mount is toast, will try to install a new one tonight.

Somehow I picked up a driveshaft vibration in the last 2 days that didn't exist last week. Can I assume that if I rotate the driveshaft 180° on the pinion flange that it might fix it?

Funny story today,

Could have swapped an $11 transmission mount and fixed everything.

Instead I spent 100 times that and stuffed in a 3550. Oh and a new mount. No more vibration.

After driving to work this morning, I can say that the mount fixed a lot of vibrations and fixed a few other issues as well that I didn't know were linked. It was quiet save for the usual amount of road noise, which I hope to fix with fat mat soon enough when I pull the interior apart for a heater core.
