I have obd code 118, engine coolant temp sensor above max voltage. The chilton's manual says the ect is in the lower intake. Upon "doing a search" I read that the sensor that sends info to the computer is in a heater hose and the one in the intake just sends a signal to the temp gauge. Is this correct? If so whats the sensor in the hose? When I look up ect to purchase it seems they are selling the one in the manifold. Here are some examples. Are they even the same part? One has an electrical connector and the other doesnt appear to have one. Which do I want?

You are correct. The small 1-wire sender at the front driver's side of the intake is for the coolant temp gauge.

The engine coolant temp sensor used by the computer is located in the heater pipe that runs along the passenger side of the intake. The sensor is standing straight up just in front of the intake neck.

I look at the image in your link that is the temperature sensor that tells the gauge the temperature of the coolent. Now I am trying to think that it is a coolent temp sensor it is a two wire it can cause the car to run ruff and lose power.now the air charge sensor it is located in the air cleaner box I have not seen that many go out
