Ok one of my buddies told me a cheap easy upgrade is to put Mercury Marauder/ Mach1 converter behind my 302 for a higher stall, as they are like 2400 stall, which would be on point for my engine combo (306 with GT40 heads, explorer intake and a TrickFlow stage 1 cam which has a powerband of 2000-5500 rpm). Has anyone else done this? I found a used one with 30k miles on it too damn cheap to pass up! someone let me know so i can make my decision... Mine is a 1995 BTW.

You might want to reconsider your thinking. The Mustang AODE converter spec is between 2459 - 2906.

The Marauder/Mach 1 converter has beter internals but from what I have read is about the same stall as speed. I was thinking about getting one used and then having it sent out to have the stall raised to 2500-2800 or so for my AOD. Would be a lot cheaper than $700 for an aftermarket one.

Anyone use one of these TC in an AOD?
