Who is doing the work?

There's a local gear shop here

Find out from the shop what they would like for you to have on-hand when you show.

They should know what to expect and could already have many install parts on hand.

In a good rear-end shop, you generally only needs to provide the specialized parts that you want installed (i.e. Kevlar trac-lok, gear set, aluminum diff cover, prefered seals, etc.).

They should be able to tell what they don't have on-hand.

With that kind of mileage on the rear end go with the full rebuild kit. If you're already going to be in there then you might as well do it and have the piece of mind knowing the rear end is fresh.
I did this, I bought a complete rear end rebuild, gears, differential, and axles. I got this kit http://www.latemodelrestoration.com...ine-Severe-Duty-Rear-Axle-Kit-5-Lug-373-Gears . I was going to do just the gears but i said screw it, this is the last time I am going to open up the rears so I am going to do everything right.

After checking out the link I can say you're not messing around! That's a much more expensive option than I was originally thinking but it's going to be absolutely bulletproof & last the life of the car more than likely. I had the rear end in my 66 Mustang rebuilt with a full Detroit Locker and 3.55 gears from Currie & it was one of the best decisions I ever made with the car. I really need to have some 3.73's installed in my 00' GT b/c the factory 3.27's just don't get the car into the powerband quick enough. Enjoy!
