I put a 1991 Lincoln Mark VII 5.O in my 72 mustang with the AOD transmission and wiring harness and computer I owned the donor Lincoln and wrecked it. The motor is great, how ever it has started stalling after I start it and after driving it about 10 miles and stalls every now and then at highway speeed or when I stop at a traffic light. Its really a pain. What would cause this? I bought a OBD1 scanner but it wont work on the car so I am doing everything the old fashion way trying to troube shoot the problem. I have replaced following items, throttle position sensor, air idle control valve, distributer,
computer and wires nothing fixed it. It stalls when the engine is cold or at normal temperature. I am looking at pulling the throttle body and do a really good cleaning and see what happens. Any ideas you can give me will be appreciated.

Did you keep the catalytic converter with the engine? make sure it is no where near your fuel line as it gets very hot and could cause vapor lock in your fuel line. If you're running an electric fuel pump then check any connections and harnesses for broken wires/loose connections. How does it run otherwise? Being random like that then these are the things I would start with.

If you can not scan for codes, it will be difficult to get it figured out for cheap. Scan trouble could even be a symptom.

Post this under the 79 up and get the harness fixed. Otherwise, you are just guessing at parts.
If you insist on guessing, check and replace the pip and the fuel pump relay.
