  • Hey guys I'm new here and i am a proud mustang owner as of march 2014
  • I have a tranny problem(and not the kind that deals with korea town in LA) with my Automatic, but instead of buying a new one I'm going to go to a 5 speed t5, my question is one that has been asked before-will an 88 fox gt t5 fit in my 95 gt?
  • I only ask due to being strapped for cash, my buddy is giving me all the necessary parts from his 88 vert for the swap if it will work. I've heard that I will need the input shaft from the old aode and that I'll have to probably shorten the driveshaft. Can anyone elaborate on this and tell me if it will work?

Yes, in a manner of speaking.

I only ask due to being strapped for cash, my buddy is giving me all the necessary parts from his 88 vert for the swap if it will work.

You'd be better off grabbing a junkyard 4R70W (96-2001 Exploder 2wd) and swapping the TCC solenoid, shift solenoid, EPC solenoid, internal wiring harness and trans oil temp sensor from your AODE. Then J-mod the valve body. Instant 500hp capable transmission

I've heard that I will need the input shaft from the old aode and that I'll have to probably shorten the driveshaft. Can anyone elaborate on this and tell me if it will work?
You heard wrong.

To install a foxbody T5 in your car, (without any 94-95 T5 parts) you'll need a manual ECM, manual transmission wiring harness, pedal assembly, quadrant, clutch cable, fox bellhousing, fox fork, for T5, driveshaft spacer... and you'll probably get upset about mashing your hand into your radio every time you shift into 3rd.

You cannot use the input shaft from your AODE... that would not even come close to working.

For a t5? Not likely. You need to move it back 5/8"... and that's just not happening.

Besides, swapping to a T5 is not really a great idea. They aren't the best trans out there.

I forgot to mention that the clutch fork location will probably interfere with your exhaust, you'll need to modify your transmission cross member, you'll need new speedo gears, which might (will) involve taking the transmission apart.

Just get the 4r70w like I told you.
