Best Fuel Pump For A Mustang Daily Driver?

MANY thousands of people- including myself- have run a blower and/or Nitrous with stock bottom ends with no problems. I've run 10# of boost and also have run 125 shots. The keys are

1. good tune
2. good head gakets and ARP hardware
3. good supporting parts- injectors, fuel pump, etc.

Vortech, Procharger and most Nitrous companies all sell entry level kits that are plug and play with no tune needed. With power adders, you can run rich all day long but only lean once. The horror stories you hear are about guys who slap on a power adder and make no or incorrect adjustments to timing and fuel. Guys start swapping smaller pulleys to up boost, or change jets on Nitrous seeking more and more power. As long as the A/F ratio is within specs and you have a tune which will keep the timing and fuel curves within safe levels, there is no reason to worry.
Even less reason to worry if not boosted. Online there are plenty of people selling their turbos and superchargers so they can buy a different motor after they blew one up, I'm not going to be one of them. I'm sure I could install a kit with no problems, but I DON"T know enough to keep from blowing an engine up after I installed one. I'm not afraid to admit I don't know squat about turbos and superchargers, but I know enough that I should not own one.

Well I know If I did put a blower on it I would keep wanting more and more power until the weakest link let go, after snapping a crank in a stock motor with just bolt-ons I don't want to push a stock block, it wiped out a bunch of parts and made a big mess. I'd rather be able to drive the car everyday without blowing another block apart. My wife would kill me if I blew up another motor.
Tell her to get back into the kitchen and make you dinner! We got manly things to discuss. Jk. Out of curiosity how in the hell did you break a crankshaft? That is the first one I've ever heard of snapping without a blower hanging off the end of it. Also don't worry about doing that again. Lol. Plenty of ways to have catastrophic carnage but snapping a crank is unlikely.

From what I have read some stock 5.0 blocks develop cracks in the block, once that happens the bearings start to walk and all of a sudden with really no warning the crank snaps. Mine blew out the front of the timing cover, destroyed the block, twisted rods, bent the dist. shaft, snapped timing chain, bent the oil pan. Mine started running warmer, not hot and overheating just warmer than it should have been, I changed out water pump, thermostat, all the hoses, bought new spring for lower hose, blew everything out with air and it all seemed OK so I assumed the stock gauge was going bad, it never made any noise until it made a LOUD noise when it broke. I've talked to at least 10 other guys that have had the same thing happen, the crank broke almost exactly like mine did, luckily I was pulling out of a restaurant doing maybe 15mph when it broke.

When I divorced my ex she said she was going to take the Mustang from me........I asked her if she really thought she would live long enough to drive it? After that she didn't want it anymore, we'll never know how serious I was about it, but I think she believed !

Yeah. All of us can trade stories of ex's and cars. My ex took my 85 race mustang that had an $8000 motor, 2k trans and etc. along with the $1500 trailer, slicks, and other parts and sold it during the divorce to pay for her divorce lawyer

For $4000

That is some serious carnage on the crank man. Never seen one snap like that unless a power adder was the culprit.

Some people have said the harmonic balancer was what started it but mine seemed fine, I trashed the one from that motor just in case. I talked with an engine builder that was throwing away blocks because he was finding cracks in them, all in the same spot between #2 and #3 cyld. I must have had a bad block, or a lot of balancers are going bad.
