Will a set of 79-86 halo headrests fit in my 1991 vert sport seats?
Found a good deal on a set but I want to make sure I can use them.
Thanks

Well I was able to get a great deal on a set of halos. I bought a pair for $50. They were originally porno red and were spray dyed gray. I'm going to clean them up and paint them black. I have a can of black SEM paint I bought from LMR when I refreshed my interior. What's the easiest way to release the stock headrests to get them out?
Thanks again

Unzip the back on the bottom. Slide a flathead screwdriver up the back and feel for the lever which locks into the groove on the headrest post. It's on the backside. Basically slide the screwdriver under this lever and twist slightly while pulling the headrest up.

Well you could do it that way.
But, if you're feeling manly do it like I did mine. Lower your top, stand in the floorboard behind the front seat. Grab that headrest with both hands, wiggle it from side to side while pulling up with all your mite. It will pull right out.
Then move to the other seat and repeat.

Good Luck!

Can you pull the headrest up on your '91 seats and snap a pic? I can prob tell you then dependingon how they attach to the seat

I'm at the office right now "working" :)
I can tell you if that helps. There is a metal mounting plate on the tops of the seat frames under the upholstery that has 2 mounting holes tapped in it. The guide brackets have 2 matching holes that you mount them to the top of the seats with. I can take them off easy enough by removing the 2 screws. The holes would most likely be covered and hidden by the halos. I would just not have the guides to hold the belts up for easy access.

Well, I got my halos installed this morning. I think they turned out pretty sweet. I was able to just pull up really hard on the old ones and they popped right out. I did have to remove the seat belt guides from the tops of the seats though. They were right in the way. Thanks for everyone's advice and input.
