High-pitched Whine From Exhaust

You sure thats from the exhaust, and not the fuel pump going out?

Have a friend turn the key forward to On, but dont start it, while you listen around the fuel tank.

You should hear the fuel pump prime.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty confident it's not the fuel pump, but I'll try that. Usually before I turn the ignition over, I prime the pump by turning the key one stage and letting the fuel pump turn on before firing the engine. I hadn't heard any unusual noises, but I'll try that. It would make sense.

(What's up with the "For Stangnet.com use only" warning??? Discussions on this site protected intellectual property???)

I make "how to" posts occasionally.
my pictures and words, and I don't appreciate them being taken and posted elsewhere.

Stangnet is the only site I post my "How to" stuff.

That being said, I have not read stangnets terms of use lately, so stangnet probably owns whatever is posted anywhere on this site.

It sure sounds electrical, like a relay if not the pump. It simply does not sound like air leaking. If it is air, higher rpm should increase back pressure and change the note. Does stepping on it change the pitch?

If it was under the hood and only at idle or no throttle, I would suspect a BBK throttle body whistle.

On a related note, there was a F150 at Walmart today that sounded like it had a kid's zinger sound effect whistle (fake turbo?) stuck in the tailpipe. You did not get one of them off Ebay, did you?
