Hey so I have a 99 gt and I needed a new clutch. So I went and bought one for my year which would be the t45. After going to install I got the news that the garage took the tranny off and the clutch disk didn't fit at all. So it was the wrong one. I looked into the car more and had a report done only to figure out it was originally a auto. So someone put in a new manual tranny and possibly a new engine. I need a new clutch but I need to know how to figure out which tranny and engine I have without using the Vin. I have to buy the correct clutch... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

A 1999-2000 model year would have left the factory with a 10.5" clutch and a 8 bolt flywheel attached to a Windsor block.

A 2001+ model year would have a 11" clutch attached to a 6 bolt flywheel and a Romeo block.

Sooooo if the 10.5" clutch doesn't fit, then to me it stands to reason that your car has an 11" clutch.

Count the number of splines on the transmission input shaft. Stock is 10 spline, but some aftermarket transmissions have 26. Then, measure to find out if you have a 10.5" flywheel or 11". Then, call up your favorite parts supplier and ask for a clutch that will work for that setup. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think the number of bolts the flywheel has comes into play other than helping to identifying 10.5" vs 11".
