I know a couple places in Illinois...a little far away. Nice car btw. Are you going mini tub or full on?
I wana do a full tub. Not planning on driving my car much on the street anymore. Gona be mostly my track car...an some street racing. Plus I just think it looks bad ass.....
Thanks for the complement on my car. I did a lot of work to this car the past 2 years. Started out as a lx 5.0 I put the cobra body kit on it an a 408 stroker motor, with full racing suspension under it.

How I have it set up now is....front upr kmember with coil overs strange 10way adj. In the rear I have team Z strip series uppers an lower adj. Team Z anti roll bar vicking dual adjustable shocks. TeamZ springs. Motor is a dart 408 stroker. Has pretty much everything done to it.
I mostly use it for the track. I do drive it on the street very little usually to local car shows. Im building a 427 for it now with aluminum based 351 block n plan on running low 9's. As of now my best pass is a 10.34@ 130.58 mph. best 60ft 1.44
So id like to put some more tire to the ground thats why I wana tub it out. Plus it looks badass.

Just seeing what opions are out their on where to go or if im gona benefit spending the money to do it. My car hooks pretty good at the track but not the greatest on the street.. guess I bin watching to much of streetoutlaws. Lol

Lol on the street outlaws. I do think your current suspension/engine should be able to go under 1.45 60ft times with some tweaks. Usually it just take more launch rpm to get the wheel speed up and a good chassis. But as far as going full tub vs staying current set up you definetly should be able to improve and it does look good imo(for a race car). I'm really not ripping on your current performance but you should be a little quicker in the 60. What is the current specs on 408/trans/gear ratio? Your mph seems a little low for et. Must be fairly quick in the 1/8

Yea I agree on the 60ft times. It a fairly new set up Im still messin with the settings. Im running 4.30's 28x10.5 slicks my converter I cant hold it at the line. It usually starts pushing me thru the beams if I take it over 2, 000 rpms. I dont have a trans brake. Trannys a pa performance c4
I think if I cud leave harder my 60ft wud pick up.

Most definetly and a brake! If you can get it to leave hard I would think you could get into the 1.2-1.3's and maybe a 9.90-10.00 et. Also that's a lot of gear. Hopefully you're able to turn 7k+ if not you might go faster with less gear. I believe you can run 9.0's with the right combo(427-8"conv-chassis/suspension/tire) without tubbing it. But it would be a challenge to hook on the street at that level. It can be done to a certain amount of success. Tub job is going to cost around 10k+(depending on what all they do). I personally think it's cooler to do it on a "small tire" car. Anybody can run 9's with a back halfed car. No offense. Unless you ultimately where going way faster(7.9<) I'd concentrate on the trans/traction in present combo first and if plans are jumped forward by an extra 500+hp I'd back half the car. Idk just my .02:shrug:

Thats some pretty good feed back. I

appreciate that. Gives me something to
reconsider. I had bin tossin around the idea of going with a 9inch or maybe even an 8 inch converter. I have a 10 inch now. What started all this with the big tire deal is we have a bunch of streetoutlaw junkies around here. We started are on little list. Actually its all foxbody mustangs which is kinda cool. But are cars are no where near the caliber of car them guys have. But than again their cars wernt what they are now before the tv show started. So i guess their pockets got a little deaper.
Yea not so sure i wana drop 10 grand to backhalf my car. Maybe ill look into mini tub

If you get the right converter in there I think you will be pleasantly surprised especially if you get a trans brake/2 step combo. I would guess at least .2 drop in et and much more consistent 60ft times. With your suspension Ive seen plenty of mustangs in the 1.25-1.35 60 ft. Do you have a dyno graph of where you're making peak power(tq especially)? If it's a n/a motor most guys seem to run the quickest with a stall speed right around peak torque. You want the motor to be dropping into this range on the shifts. I'm also curious to see a time slip. I would imagine with your stated times that your car is 1/8 mile quick but doesn't pick up much mph in the back half of the track. Where do you shift at? I assume with your new motor you're going to cam the car to that gear ratio. You will need a better trans set up. Impossible to 60ft with low rpm launches. Get it up around 5k and you may be staring at the sky/dragging your bumper/with a big sh.. Eatn grin.

Yea I dont have any dyno sheets, no data of torque or hp. Im shifting at 6800 rpm

Well you're picking up pretty good in the back half. And that thing looks pretty consistent! looks like it would be hard to get much more ET out of it. Still think maybe .2 with a perfect conv. I also wonder about the rear gear. I think you'd mph better with 4.10's and possibly hit 10.00-9.90's if everything was perfect. Very nice car and very consistent! Good job!

Thanks bud I appreciate that. Im slowly learning how to do all this racing stuff myself.I did pretty much everything to the car
Myself except for building the motor. I wud like to experiment with another converter. If I change converter i'll let you no if I pick up anytime. Thanks again for all the good advice

Who is on "the list".. Not that my car is fast enough now, but maybe someday. I am in mountville, about 20 minutes from Hershey. What about way cool rod shop? Do they do that kind of stuff? Or just paint work? I know a guy who used to work there.
