I ran the wires for my audio system a few months ago when I did the sound deadener. Last night, I put the 10" woofer and amp in the trunk. I am waiting to get the harness adapter in the mail for the head unit, but in the mean time, my question is can I run the door and dash speakers off the head unit through the factory harness and the rear 6x8s and sub off the amp? Will this cause any issues? The system is not meant to blow eardrums by any means, just an upgrade from stock. The door and rear speakers have been upgraded to some decent Pioneer units, also.

Might have to drag @LaserSVT up from the depths of the SW on this one.

I think I misunderstood. I thought you were going to run the pioneers of the stock HU until the adapter harness came in. It's not a big deal, speakers always sound better through an amplifier. Quality HU's typically have 35-45Wx4ch true RMS and can cleanly power a 5" or less speakers no problem. Be careful, the 6x8s can easily over power the other speakers. I would run the 6x8s on a lower frequency (but not the lowest) that should be adjustable on your amp.

On a lower frequency????
So are you talking about running a low pass type filter? That would make them like subs? Or do you mean to run them at a lower power level at full frequency range?

No, I have no way to hook up the amp until I get the harness. Assuming the 6x8s are too loud, I can always adjust the fade, correct?

Most amps will have a frequency adjuster on it that you can select a low, med or high frequency for the speakers you're running. The lowest is only for subs 8" or larger, the mid freq are suitable for larger mids about 6", 5x7, 6x9 etc, then the high freq would be best for coaxial 5" all the way down to tweeters. Most quality 2 or 3 way oval speakers have a built in HPF so the tweeters won't distort and also you don't want any high frequency running through the larger oval speaker, only mid-low freq. This will help tame the speakers down a little and give you good mid base if you listen to music like rock, metal or punk. If it's still too much you can simply use your fade. This is how I've always ran my stereo systems especially when I don't have a sub. The best systems for me have been without a sub, or if I had a sub it was a 10" JL W3 dual voice coil in a sealed box. I listen to Rage against the machine, slipknot, Pantera, suicidal tendecies etc and punk so It's important for me to get the mid range frequency dialed in so I can hear the bass guitar in Korn, the toms getting drilled by Joey Jordison, the kick drum in Rage, etc.

Sorry it's a long response.

That's great info, and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

The Amp has 4 channels, so i can definitely run the 6x8s and the sub independently. Will definitely be coming in here with more questions. There's a lot of buttons and switches that I have no idea what they do, lol.
