Fox Original Miles Or Rolled Over?

I guess it doesn't matter since I own the car now but I'm still curious the car is supposed to only have around 63k miles on it. Here is a link to the add where I bought it from with pictures. http://www.karmustang.com/product.php?productid=17180&cat=282&page=1 As you can see the paint-body is decent for how old it is I think anyway. There is no rips or anything on the interior just a coffee stain that I got out. But I look at stuff like how dirty the engine bay is and it makes me wonder. I bought an auto check but there is quite a long time between some of the mileage checks so I'm still not sure. I just thought I would ask to see what you guys thought. Thanks

Here's my opinion on 'low mileage' foxes. Anyone that legitimately has one knows that it is low mileage, takes pride in that fact, and generally documents it very well.

Any other car is a straight guess, unless you can prove otherwise, which brings you back to option 1. My car has no proof whatsoever and appears to have had a rough life before I owned it. When asked about mileage, I generally reply, "quarter million or so."

Yeah I really don't have any documentation other than the window sticker and build sheet. Just makes me wonder as everything on it is clean but the motor even the underbody has no rust and as you can see the car has lived in Ohio its entire life where they use plenty of salt in the winter.

when the odometer rolls the 10k zero typically wont be perfectly centered, EDIT actually I looked at mine and take that back.... mine say 23xxxx and the 2 is perfect....

Obviously anything can be replaced or redone however things that would look different between 162k and 62k are drivers seat steering wheel Pedals. These are things that get worn now matter how well you treat her. Secondly you may know this bUT that car will have enamel paint if original. When you wax her you will get color on your rag. If your rag does not turn red it is not original paint. My guess for the engine bay is that those whom owned it just did not clean it. Some people do not take pride in the engine bay as particular as others. 62k engine bay could look very dirty. My car had 46k original when I bought it and did not look very good under the hood either. I have made great improvements with a little elbow grease.

Based on what I see and everything you say I am pretty confident you have a 63k car. Without restoration typically a 163k car would not be in the condition as yours. I am sure someone has the exception though.

I can tell you I just got a 92 summer edition feature car with 4,900 miles on it my father in law bought new and sat in a barn under 2 covers since 94. My engine bay looked terrible. It's slowly getting up to par though......

That's what I was hoping to hear as I paid for a 60k mile car. The paint and body are not perfect it has a couple dings-scratches and the back of the spoiler has about a 3 inch wide faded line most of the was across it not sure how that would of happend? But I have it most of the way gone. Thanks

Well enamel paint is great for removing scratches and fade because it is the same color the entire way through. Not like clear coat where scratches are always white. Just be careful because if you remove to much paint you will really end up with a dull spot.

if it is keeping you up at night, send off an oil sample. You'll find out if it has 62 or 162k miles on it. It will measure how much lead, copper, iron, aluminum, chrome etc are in your oil that would be from wear in piston and rings, bearings, camshaft, etc. They can also tell you if the oil has been regularly changed, what grade oil, how dirty it is. if it is contaminated, and other parameters. I've used this company before with good results.

My car had sever acid rain when I bought it. I cleaned it really well and used one of those three or four stage clean polish wax kits. Clay bars work great also however this won't help your faded spot. If all else fail a good painter can match it perfect. Some of my panels had to be re sprayed after a minor fender bender and you can't tell. If you do decide to repaint make sure the paint guy knows your being picky and that you want the clear sanded very good to remove all the orange peel/fisheyes. Enamel paint is very smooth as where clear coat can have a slight texture unless sanded very smooth.

I've been thinking about having the car respayed and fixing the plastic door trim pieces. They are starting to bow out a little on the ends. For now I will try using one of thoes several stage wax kits should look pretty good. Thanks

What's with the line in the carfax that says 116k and not included in odometer rollback calculation?

From 2007, with 43k soon after.
