Amazing how much orange peel takes away from a paint job.
Yeah and what's funny is that the door was hung and sprayed like the factory would with another round of clear to give it just a touch of orange peel so it would still retain a slightly factory look. The first round the door was layed flat and came out too slick...if that makes any sense.

ehhh.... nope, can't say I've heard that before. Anytime I did wetsanding at my buddy's shop, I was told to get all the peel out. But I see what you mean and I can see it in the pic too. That car is going to look fantastic. I wish I could buy a mach, but the oldest car I can get a loan on is '08 model year.

^^^
Yeah...since the car has only a few thousand miles, I want it to look somewhat factory...only a lot nicer and slicker but at the same time subtle. Which is why I didn't weld any holes like the antenna....even though I wanted to. Custom paint is a no brainer...load the clear, cut it smooth and buff the crap out of it. The hard part is getting a brand new car that has a bump and not only matching the paint but the factory texture of paint because a completely smooth panel will stick out like a sore thumb if the rest of the car has peel.

I do have Cobra progress. I got the body work and fit on the ice cream scooper (spoiler) close after blocking it 15 times and getting about 8 coats of primer along the way.

Block prime and fit again.

Close to 2 years since I have been on here and checked on this build (Work and expanding my family) but I am not surprised at all that this still DOESN'T have paint. I had a feeling whenever I started reading thru the pages I have missed that your OCD and pursuit of perfection would not have allowed you to paint this yet. However, I do enjoy the suspense and look forward to seeing the final product.

^^^^LOL! ...yeah its been a while on my ole 94 which is usually on the back burner. Problem with doing car building as a living is your always working on other people's stuff. So I've painted and done lots of cars between then and now...But that's just the way it goes...and it seems that I have an endless amount if work right now, so it probably won't change. My 94 will be worth the wait for those that keep up with it.

For those that want to follow the progress, I have finally caught up with the times and have a company face book page. link is now on my signature. I'll try to still upload pics here but I'll be updating the facebook page daily with all kinds of different projects. The Mach 1 project is 98% done.
