Axle Help

Took the axle apart after having a pinion leak and excessive pinion slack. Can someone tell me why the wheel bearings don't have inner races!!!!? Wtf the axles are all pitted and worn aka "spaled?" Why wouldn't they uses a race... Anyways I heard something about being able resurface the shaft?

Cost of it or just suck it up and spend the dough on aftermarkets

I dont know about resurfacing, but you could try an "axle saver" bearing.

Called my shop they don't have that part number is this the same

The TRP1563TAV is the "axle saver". It's purpose is to relocate the bearing surface to a new "clean" area on the axle shaft. The cjponyparts part performs the same function.

Note, you do not need a separate seal when using this style bearing.

The 5707 is the stock style.

When ever possible use Timken bearings if you want the repair to last................................ National is a good brand as well.

Duralast not so good if made in China.

Great thank you for the info. I agree with the duralast I avoid it if possible but I need to get the job done by Sat and no shops seem to carry a higher quality. All my bearing are timken I have had good luck with them in my past jeep builds they have been around forever

They don't use a race bc they are not tapered roller bearings and they "press" into the axle tube.

About 4 years and 60K miles ago I replaced my original bearings and seals with axle savers. I just finished replacing those with the standard bearings and seals. Why replace again? The savers were leaking. Why I haven't figured out yet. I couldn't find a seal that would go in place of the one that was "integral" with the saver. And one of the 2 bearings was hell to pull back out. I don't recommend them.
