Hey guys I thought I would go ahead and start a build thread for my Mustang. Don't expect a lot to be happening soon but I wanted to start something for the discussion of what I want to do to my Mustang.

First off I own a 2003 Mustang GT 5 speed manual Premium, I bought it bone stock back in 2008 my senior year of high school with 68,000 miles on it.

Right now the car has 131,000 miles on it. I have done some mods to the car which I will list.

Performance/handling mods
Mac prochamber o/r midpipe
3.73 Ford Racing gears
SCT handheld tune from American Muscle
Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates and sub frame connectors
H&R Super Sport lowering springs
Exedy stage 1 clutch
Ram billet steel flywheel

Miscellaneous mods:
Mach 1 grille delete
FR500 rims
sequential taillights

That is all I can remember as of right now. Well I want to ultimately supercharge my Mustang, I hear good things about Procharger kits and Vortech. I am interested in the Procharger setup and I think I could run 7-8lbs of boost on the stock internals and be satisfied. I am worried about the mileage on the motor and running boost but a lot of guys are reassuring me that as long as I don't go over 9lbs of boost I will be fine.

So as of right now I am trying to decide if I will keep the car or move to something else. I graduate college this May and with a new career I will have more $ to do car stuff. I just want to decide if I should sell it or get a 5.0 Coyote or something else. As of now I am set on keeping the car and supercharging it and getting a second car for a daily driver.

I ideally would like to get the car to run low 12's at the track and still be fun to drive in autocross events. So I know after the supercharger I will most definitely want to refresh the suspension on the car.

Anyways I hope in the next few months this thread will have me showing y'all my supercharged Mustang lol.
Btw I am open to any suggestions on what to do and I want to hear from you guys that have done this to their Mustangs.

Anywho I hope to have more for yall soon.

Your ride is sick!. I wouldn't do Procharger been there done that ( P1SC Kit ).. The Procharger kit's are 5 or 6 grand compared to Paxton or Vortech which you can buy a " tuner kit " for $ 2100 - $2500ish.. Vortech owns Paxton or vice versa ( same company ) .. I am gunna do a Paxton novi 2200 kit because it won't max out! My buddies have paxtons and they are freakn awesome man. Coyotes are bad azz but pricey and so are performance parts and with all the new coyote parts that's good for us 2v guys cuz prices are dropping cuz it's older and not the " new " thing..

Very nice! If you boost it I bet you would see high 11's considering you upgrade suspension tires ect. These cars can run 12's with bolt on's slicks and the right driver with out nos or boost.

I really want to boost mine but I'll be leaning towards either a single turbo or small twin turbos. Easy to dial down the boost for daily driving and notch it up for the track.

Thanks guys! Well I have great news, I recently had an interview this last Friday and I received a call yesterday telling me that I got the job!!! So I will be deciding on what I want to do. Looking at newer/different cars is tempting though...

Well the wing on my car cracked at the base when I closed my trunk too hard... So I went ahead and removed it. I think it looks meaner without the spoiler. What do yall think?

Modding is an addiction. So I say that if you're gonna get another car, then keep you Mustang as your toy to do all the modding with and leave the new car alone

As far as superchargers are concerned, I prefer Vortech over Procharger. At 8 psi on an otherwise stock 2V GT you should see close to 400 RWHP. Your engine even at 131K miles should be safe as long as you keep the boost to 8 psi, 10 psi absolute max. Maybe start looking into building a forged engine. But a Vortech S-Trim will really wake your car up. It'll be extremely fun to drive. With DRs I think you should see mid 12s, maybe low 12s...since you already have 3.73s. And the good thing is that if you know what you're looking for, you can piece together an entire used Vortech system for around $1500 maybe even less. I've done that quite a few times. Let me know if you need help looking for parts.

But, I will say, you can probably find a 2011 Coyote for low 20s maybe even lower. And while you may want a Coyote, do not rule out a 2010 3V 5sp GT. They also are beautiful cars and VERY fun to drive. I test drove one back in 2012. They perform remarkably well. If you can get a really good deal with a trade-in on one of those, then I would not hesitate. Even the 11+ V6s are good. They start off in the high 13s bone stock. Good luck with everything. I'll be peeking in and out of here!!

I think the wing off looks really good, I've been wanting to take mine off but I don't know what to use for plugs.

I haven't found something yet but I just put tape under the holes to keep water out. I know it won't last long but it is something. I will eventually get my rear bumper replaced due to the damage it has from the first owner and I will have the holes filled at the shop while it is there.

If your in to autocross, I suggest a positive displacement blower like kenne bell. Torque is instant and it still makes good power, this increases the fun factor when coming out of a corner. With a centri, your making boost in the upper rpm's. This is great for drag racing, but not so good for road course.

There are benefits to centri's tho... Street driving gas mileage typically doesn't suffer - sometimes you may get better mileage... Remember your not cruising around town at 4k rpm. They make more power as well...

I went the KB route because it is a monster on the street.

Played around with a 2011-20014 V6 Mustang in Mexico a few days ago and we were dead even from 70 to a certain speed with a 1 and two 0 0 . I felt kinda crappy that a 3.7 V6 is just as fast as me. At least he didn't walk me. Time to get a supercharger for real though.

Went to the body shop to get an estimate on having my trunk lid holes filled in and painted. Also to have the bumper replaced and painted all together will cost me $1,200. Then this bull sh** happened the other day.

Basically I opened my door to hard I guess which caused the door to hit the fender whenever you would try to open it... I got a crowbar out and pushed the fender away from the door so I can open it. Another damn thing to fix.

Another picture of the damage...

Also has anyone used Dynomat sound insulator to help make the interior of our cars quieter? I'm fed up with all the rattling going on, makes me feel like this car is so cheap.

I know this sounds really redneck but I went ahead and used duct tape inside the plastic door panels to help reduce the rattling noises. To my surprise it actually worked, the car still has some rattles but the stupid rattling from the passenger side door panel is not that bad anymore! its crazy how something like that can make a car feel better. Other than that not much else to talk about. The car hit 135,000 miles. Right now I am trying to decide what I want to do with the car. The list of issues that it has is growing and Im not sure if I want to pour more $$$ into it. Btw whoever designed the throwout bearing should be slapped. That thing makes the most annoying sound in the world and makes the car feel so cheap.

If after bending your fender, you are starting to get angry about the small things you don't like about the car, that may be a sign to step out of the high mileage older car. I loved my 04 but despite being a full bolt-on ProCharged beast, I started to get mad at how much I was working on it And the high mileage wasn't helping the argument for keeping it.

I put on the ProCharger and said, "I would be cool with just 8 psi of boost." For a short time, I was happy with it...until one day I wasn't and later ended up increasing boost to about 12 psi. I ran the car to its limit. I would have had to build a forged engine, upgrade the blower and repair or replace the trans just to move to the next step.

I'm not going to tell you not to boost your current Mustang. But if you are getting mad at it now, wait til you've put over 12G in mods on it and it decides to take a crap. The repair bills get high and you're real angry about the money you've put in already and can't get back for a car that isn't even running.

Love my 15 though. Despise the car payment. This car stock makes almost as much power as the 04 did with all its boost. The 04 put almost 400 hp to the wheels. The 15s are putting down around 360 to 370 rwhp stock. Lets not talk about the creature comforts and improved handling. Plus when I put a blower on this one, down the road, it will make at or near 600 rwhp.

If you have the means you, won't regret getting any of the coyote cars. If you build you current car, keep in mind you're kind of married to it. You will take a huge loss if you decide to get rid of it down the road.

Devils advocate.

Now I wait for the swarm of angry 2V owners to rage against me. :hide:

A Mustang and any other car with 4 wheels on this planet is nothing else but a money pit. I purchased my 2001 Mustang GT and my 2002 Mustang V6 both brand new. My 02 got totaled in 2008 and I ended up buying a brand new 2008 Dodge Charger RT with the Road & Track package. I still own my 2001 Mustang GT.
Both the 08 Charger RT R&T and the 01 Mustang GT have remained 100% stock. I've never driven the 01 Mustang GT during the wintertime or in the salt or snow. The Mustang GT currently has 22,xxx original miles on it right now an it's driven only during the mid summer and fall and is put away in storage before the first snowfall. On the other hand, the 08 Charger RT R&T has been driven all year round since I purchased it brand new and it currently has only 38,8xx original miles on it. The Charger has already been in the body shop 3 times for rear end body work after being rear ended 3 different times in the last 5 years.
I've kept both cars 100% stock for one reason. Because I don't like to spend money on a car that depreciates which will constantly need some sort of repairs as time progresses as it ages and as the mileage goes up. I only spend money for the basic wear and tear repairs like brakes, tires, oil changes, and scheduled maintenance. That's it. I don't like spending thousands of dollars on mods on something which depreciates and loses value. If I were to calculate the gas, insurance and scheduled maintenance costs over the 8 to 14 years of ownership for my 01 Mustang GT and 08 Dodge Charger RT R&T, the cost of ownership runs in the thousands of dollars. Why should I spend many more thousands of dollars for mods when I've already spent enough money to maintain and to keep my cars on the road? I would rather invest the money in something that will make me money. If I were you I would not spend anymore money for mods. I would only spend the money to fix the dent in the door and fix the fender and just drive the thing until the wheels fell off.

I've decided to put the Mustang for sale. I'm no longer interested in modding the car and don't want to spend anymore money on it. It's been a great car but I'm ready for something different. I'm asking $6,000 for it which is high but I didn't want to put $5,000 and have someone low ball to $4,500.

I have decided against selling it. I had a buyer with cash ready to buy but I backed out and couldn't do it. So my goals are to find a full time job and then figure it out from there. I'd like to buy long tube headers and a cat less shorty h pipe for it as a way to get some power.
