I am installing gt40 heads and roller rockers on my car. The stock pushrods @ 6.250 are not long enough. I used my pushrod length checker to try to figure out what length is needed. Should the rocker be able to move back and forth at all after torqued? There is pressure on the pushrod, it's not loose but you can push the rocker and it will spring back from lifter preload. At 6.300 there is no play whatsoever. Just wondering which way is right before I order longer ones.

Nope... With stock pushrods some of them are loose when torqued

Even with no shims? How many miles are on your lifters (any chance of collapse)? You are certain that you're on the base circle of the camshaft when installing them, right?

It's very rare that stock pushrods are too short for GT40 heads. What's your head gasket thickness?

Depending on how loose they are, this might instead be a good excuse for you to mill the heads. It would probably cost you about the same as a new set of pushrods, but you'll have the satisfaction of knowing the deck surface is true and you'll add a little bit of compression in the process?

You could easily take .020 off of the head surface without running into issues.

The base circle of the cam would be any time the valves are closed correct?

No shims anywhere

The lifters were not collapsed when I had them out

Feel pro 9333 gaskets

Heads were just resurfaced and valve job done
