Intake Manifold Fitment Question

I have a 2000 GT, i recently got an intake manifold off of a 97 GT. It is an aftermarket one with the aluminum crossover. I am wondering if that intake will work and fit properly on my 2000. I know they both have the 4.6L engine, but i'm not sure about the specifics. Any info will help. Thanks in advance.

Short answer. NO!!!!

The 98 and older is non-PI. The 2000+ is PI. The shape of the intake ports are different. The non-PI is tear drop shaped. The PI is more square.

Thanks for the info. Here is a pic of the one that i have that came off of a 97 GT. Let me know what you think if it is a PI or NPI, and if you think it would work on my 00 GT.

Spend the extra cash and get a metal intake, those plastic lower-intakes still leak. That was my correct speculation when Ford motor company did patch job on the intake, that was basically what the coolant cross-over was. Those metal intakes will outlive its usefulness and most people in retrospect.

i would like to get an all aluminum one, but on a budget right now, so just need something to install for now since mine has a crack that is getting bigger and will leak pretty soon.

Buy an OE late model PI intake with the aluminum crossover. The Dorman unit it crap. Smaller ports, poor fitment. I remember seeing a comparison between the Dorman and the Ford intakes one time and it was awful

What everyone else said. The Dorman is designed to fit both PI and npi engines and will hurt overall engine performance. Get the ffrp unit that comes with the aluminum xover your also going to have to get a new alternator bracket, at least i did when I bought my frpp replacement

The dorman intakes will not hurt your motor lol , the Dorman intake is made for that motor , what the dorman will do is nothing as far as performance , the ford racing pi intake will add 14 more horsepower then the dorman pi intake , so go with the ford racing pi intake or a after market intake , Ford starting making the Pi heads and intake in 1999
plus some non pi intakes have the aluminum crossover also

Have you ever sat the dorman intake side by side with a stock PI? I used the FRPP intake to replace the one on my 2000 no way that thing is good for 14 HP.

Trust me it does , the 97 non pi motors had 215 horse , and the 1999 mustang gts with pi heads and pi intake went had 260 to 265 horse power , if the power heads add 30 to 35 horse power and the intake itself makes roughly 10 to 15 horse power extra

265hp - 215hp = 45hp gain so 40 to 45 horsepower gain

The heads gain 30 to 35 hp gain
the intake 10 to 15 horsepower gain that's
were you get from 215 to 225 hp to 260 to 265 horsepower
