Now that the snow has finaly melted I started messing with my 91 lx 351 project again and I was having some issues with the starter so while it was out I figured I would see what year the block actually is, I was told it was a 69 but I cant match the number I have to anything I have researched. Right above the starter there is a large letter B followed by a number 2 and under that there is 0E13 .any ideas?

If it is a 69 it will have C9 followed by two more letters on it somewhere.. like C9AE

C= 60s
D=70s
E=80s .. The number after the first letter denotes the year in that decade. This is how to identify earlier engine casting dates.. some castings were used for many years before being revised, but I know for a fact (because I had one) a 1970 mustang is D0ZE engine code, Z denoted mustang, and 69 mustang were C9ZE, etc etc. I believe the code for truck was T and passenger car was A, the E was the casting facility.

After reading a bit more.. what I posted above are called service codes, which give dates of when the casting was introduced,

There is a 4 character date code with a number, letter, number, number.

4B15 for example. The 4 is year, B is month, 15 is the day of the month, so Y, M, DD

Or Feb 15, 19X4 (maybe 74)

0E13 is maybe May 13 1970 or 1980..

A look at the casting number/service code should give a better idea I think.

Thanks guy's for the reply .so it seem it might just be a 80's 351becouse of the letterE in the the code? there is def a letter E followed by 13 but also mabee the 0 in the front of the E is actually a C?its very hard to read will have to try to clean it up some more but the large b 2 must not mean anything right? b would be 1950 right? and the 351wasn't built untill 69 but also if it was 80s it would be roller motor or not?
