So I am loooking for a place to mount 3 gauges- oil, water, and volts.. All mechanical. Options that I am leaning to are either an 3 gauge A pillar pod or a 3 gauge cowl pod piece. I really don't want to lose my A/C and mount them there, and think they will be too low mounted under the radio.

The cowl concepts piece is $160!

I came across this on Ebay for less than $10 and thought, hey, mount them in this and cut out the stock cowl (I have a spare to do ths on if it turns out crappy). I'm favoring mounting them outside so the lines are not coming into the passenger compartment even though I will be running braided lines for the oil and water, I'll run the lines in the cowl area and then out the hole by the driver shock tower.

Whtat do you guys think?

My only worry is someone stealing them and possible premature wear from weather. I had a fuel and oil snipped with the cowl nicely damaged. I'd go with the A-pillar.

I like the cowl pod but like stated above I'd be worried about those issues. I have the A pillar pod myself and like them a lot. It came with the car and the A pillar trim doesn't match very well and looks a little crappy though.

bah a lil triming of the dash trim, no biggie.

Q: Will the MC Machine gauge plate fit my '90-'93 Mustang?
A: The short answer is the MC Machine plate will physically bolt in.

The detailed answer is that some trim pieces will be need to be changed over to '87-'89 for the best installation or the '90-'93 trim piece will need minor cutting for optimum fitment. The '90-'93 cars have slightly different pieces to accomodate the air bag steering column. These pieces have a larger radius where they arch over the steering column and this larger radius partially interferes with the tachometer and speedometer.

I personally like the cowl pod, I'm partial because I have one on mine. I like the bigger 2 5/8 guages as they are easier to read than the 2 1/16, problem is you only get a 2 pod in the bigger gauge and when the cowl hood is all the way up it just touches the back of the pod so you need to be careful. I don't see the need for a volt gauge either, if your out of volts you'll know it

I like the cowl pods but I'd only use it for mechanical oil/fuel pressure as that's really the intention of them I believe. Anything else should go inside the car IMO.

Hate gauge pods myself less is more with me but here's my setup as of now

I use the two in the ac vents with the vents shrunk on the end. Like in the pic above.
Why do you need volts?
I think less is more with gauges. I really don't like them, I feel oil pressure and water temp are necessary so I have them, but that's not to say I want them.

I truly hate gauges on the pillar and most gauges I just don't see the point in having.
I think it's more important to log info than it is to try and monitor it under full throttle and drive at the same time.

I am running Glow shift gauges with the pillar pod and like it. I think they would get stolen on the hood and weather and road grime (pollen too) would be hard on them.

I think aeroforce makes a gauge that allows analog inputs from senders.
Be nice to just use one singe gauge for everything.

Have no clue if it works, just sayin, it would be nice and keep the interior clutter free (I hate clutter).
When I see pillar gauges, that's all I think about.
