A little tip that will be good when spraying 2k primer and color, wrap the air hose around your back so it's away from the car. Another thing, sorry for all the unsolicited advice, you don't really need to block sand the epoxy (etch) primer. Just rough it up a little with a scotch pad before applying bondo and filler primer.

Do you have an air regulator on your gun? I see the filter but that is all, it could be there but just not visible.

Always welcome advice. Yeah, I usually wrap the hose like you are saying. This was literally my son's first go, so he was a little awkard. I don't have a reg on my gun, I just used the one on the compressor. I need one.
As far as blocking.. im going to do the filler work over the epoxy and most likely shoot more over it without reducer, then block it before the color. This is summit brand epoxy primer and the instructions say it is good for high build sans reducer.. never used it before but it looks like it will work well.

I started laying the first coat and got absolutely swarmed with love bugs. You can see them barely in the pic but when I stoppedthere were thousands of them. Gonna wait until this afternoon to finish up. Let the wind lay a little and maybe the bugs will thin out a bit.. good thing it's only primer.. ha. The paint will be shot in my buddy's shop. Bug free there.

He placed an open 5 gallon bucket with about 2" of AVGAS in it about 10 feet from the paintjob in progress. The lovebugs were attracted to it like bees to flowers. The fumes killed them before they got stuck in the aircraft paint.

Thank you! I will use this trick with pump gas when I spray it after body filler if the bugs are still around. Makes sense. They seemed to love the car as it was flashing off vapors. They reminded me of bees, funny you mentioning that!

Yessir I need to. This matl recommended 30 psi and I set it at the compressor. I had one for my old devilbiss but someone relieved me of it.

it's working! Apparently they like body filler also.. but some gas and a little laquer thinner makes a fine trap!

Well.. he's hard headed and will chip away at something for hours and hours.. kinda like I was at his age..

Hopefully he'll be fine.. he has a lot to learn, fortunately he learns quickly. He's driven by the anticipation of driving a sharp looking fox to school. That's what I'm banking on getting him to the finish line.

Yep, summit epoxy primer. So far, it looks really good. Builds nice, lays nice. No complaints here.. The boy wants the car to be satin black, but I'm trying to talk him into something a little more shiny.

What I said. I'm trying to bring him around.. He's starting to warm up to the idea of Lava Red.

Plus you have to lay a satin finish near perferct IMO on top of it being black.

Honestly, The idea of painting this car, of all cars- BLACK... terrifies me.. I don't know if I have the patience anymore to get it flat enough. I have done one dark blue that turned out near perfect, but that was a long time ago. I tried talking him into the original medium metallic blue, but for some reason it just isn't cool enough for him. He wants some variation of black, which is why I suggested Lava Red to him.
