Drivetrain 93 Mustang Aod Issues?

I seem to be having an issue with my 93LX. About two weeks ago I was driving home. Maybe 25-30mph heard a low pop, then it backfired and the engine died. The car would restart, stumble and die when you gave it gas. Had it towed to my mechanic. Turns out it was the distributor. It was replaced and the car fires right up with no issues. However when I drove it home the engine would cut to when the car shifted gears. It was like it dropped 500rpm, then kicked right back in. It never did this before the distributor issue. Called the mechanic the next day. He said it was likely the timing. Took it back, they messed with it again. The issue is still there, just not present every shift? I feel like I need some expert mustang advice. Does this sound like it can be a timing issue? Could the distributor issue have damaged something else? Here is a little background on the mustang.
1993 AOD
208K miles
SVE Intake
70mm TB
80mm MAF
24lb injectors
258lph fuel pump
3.73 gears

Thanks for any help or advice!

Sounds like a bad ECT sensor since that sensor plays a role in fuel and spark timing and transmission shift points. Do you have the same problem when the engine is cold? or does it happen when it warms up?

I pulled the codes today. I got the following:
KOEO test
23 - Throttle position sensor out of range
18 - Loss of tachometer input / IDM circuit failure / SPOUT circuit grounded
18 was a Continuous Memory code

Any thoughts?

First checked to see if the spout is plug into the distributor, take it out and spray electronic cleaner on it for a good contact....next set the Throttle position sensor between 0.96 to 0.98
