Progress Thread 83 Gt Getting Street Worthy

Thanks. I plan y to bring it to work tomorrow. Think it will do ok. My buddy is a Chevy guy but one of his co workers is supposed to know alote about mustangs. Either way an extra set of eyes on it and seeing what it does as opposed to hearing what I've seen and what I think is related sounds like a good idea about now. If this running warm gets taken care of and a little more carburetor cleaning later on soon. Along with a oil dipstick. Rest is downhill. Need 2 tires pretty quick along with a battery. The rest is whenever I get the chance.

Didn't get to my buddy's shop but with a couple cool down stops I made it home.. Tie rod was getting to bad so had to put a new one on today along with keep that tire off since it's accumulated a large bubble on it. Doughnut time until hopefully this weekend can get a tire on it. Hope it holds air

Now my passenger side window won't budge. It's getting power. I hear it's draw from switches anda click from for ppanel

Most likely culprit is the plastic drive gear on the motor. The rubberish drive bushings disintegrate over time. Heres mine from the rear quarter on my vert quarter window motor.JPG vThere should be 3 pencil size bushing in grease there, not that mess ... new dorman bushing are like a buck at the parts store.

I'll check that out when I get the chance to. I tapped on the door panel in the general area of the motor and played with the switch and got it up. The motor has been weak for awhile. But the bushings around the guide in the middle and the guides on the sides are gone.. I did find the main ground to firewall strap unhooked. Don't remember taking that off though but hoping that will help since it's been weird. Lol

It's time for an update on this never ending project.. I'll keep it short this time.. The gas tank decided to pick up a hole in the bottom of the tank. Went and got a nice looking 96 v6 tank from the local junkyard. With some 'modifications' id able to make it work, with some longer bolts I was even able to use that plastic guard under it. Got it running again so decided to get more then a gallon in this empty tank. Got halfway to the gas station and it died. Was able to coast almost the rest of the way. Pushed it the rest of the way to the pump thinking I was out. Total distance half a mile from home. Put gas in to find that wasn't the problem.

Ended up messing with it for 2 hours before calling tow truck. Ended up not getting spark. Found it was the coil. So upgraded to a msd blaster 3. Had to make a temporary mount until I can get a real one. But is running good now aside from its still overheating. I'm going to get some flush tomorrow and flush it I think. May be time for a upgraded radiator and belt driven paddle fan

Oh and have pictures of this project. Picked up a matching tire from the junkyard. Just a hair smaller by less then a centimeter. Popped it on the wheel today. No more doughnut finally... And found a good use of a dodge in the process Lol. Thats the bumper in the pics.. Apparently I have a pic of the msd with my makeshift mount. Will last a couple weeks at least
