GMP diecast no longer, new name.

Because they're a high-end manufacturer. Welly made some 4-eye Foxes w/much lesser detail which are closer to that price though. Should be easy to find some online. I don't think there are any other 1:18 size 87-93s by other companies, though.

I hate y'all for this thread at a level of ~ $140! Why can't these be a $30 special? :(

In my opinion, they do appreciate in value.

Pretty much all my GMP models were acquired at MSRP (at the time, $100) or slightly under it ($60-80 on Ebay) when these were being produced brand new. Now they all sell for $150+ or more depending on which model you have. Some like the 93 Cobras and 1992 Mustang GT's go for $300ish or more.

Correct. The teal 93 Cobras, as most know, is most desirable and often hits $400-500. The 93 yellow LX convertible even tops $250 at times. They used to give those out for free along w/a $30 fan club membership (I got an extra one this way back then). Some of the police cars are worth in the $200s, the Cobra R & Ground Pounder routinely reach the $300-350 range, etc.

Got my LXs today, and another old school SN95 was delivered today too.

Looks like I did order one.

Credit card got charged...but haven't seen a package yet. Hmm. No email either.

Edit: scratch that. Got it today. This was a pleasant surprise :)

1 of only 972? I bet this gains some value. Not going to open it. Just squirreled it away.

I regret not getting the 93 teal cobra.

I regret not getting two or three of them and offloading them when they were going for $400-500+. It seems they've settled down to around $300 or so now and in line with what some of the other popluar models sell for (1992 GT's, 1993 yellow LX)

The new NYPD 1988 GT might be a big hit though.

I'm actually kinda surprised that the vermillion red LX hasn't sold out. Only 972 of these were made total. I'm still seeing models available for sale from die cast shops on Ebay. Guess the following isn't

I don't think they usually sell out very quickly, although the dealers do account for a lot of the purchases. Once GMP/Acme sells out, it goes downhill from there.

What's funny is the teal Cobras are "low" at $250-300 now, and some others are now "high" there too. That yellow '93, I remember they literally GAVE those away with a $30 membership to their club. I joined and got a 2nd one. They were had at the time for $70-80. I'm really surprised they went up so much in value. I wish I joined that club a few dozen times over :rlaugh:

I find it odd that some guy just picked up a decent 84 Mustang for $650, and here some of these models can go for ~$500.

That NYPD one for some reason looks neat.

I think I picked my Teal Cobra up for $90 plus shipping from GMP. I'd say that's a great ROI. If I could only pick up stock that way.

A lot of the GMP models I got for cheaper. I remember picking up my '88 LX (old molds) for $50 or so. I think I only paid $70ish or so for the two 1988 GT convertibles. You could hop on Ebay and snag them from dealers for $60-80 or so depending on models.

Now, different story. I contemplated selling my entire collection at one point but decided to add to it instead.

Still waiting on my FBI car, and got a preorder in for the NYPD car as well.

Would really like to see a Saleen of some sort, but I have a feeling ACME will stick with the molds already made and just put out a few different varieties. Their first 3 were an LX hatch, LX notch and a GT hatch.....would be cool to do a convertible next. Maybe 1990 7-up? or a 1992 LE convertible

Same here, I got the bulk of mine back when they could be had for less then retail. Cobra R, Ground Pounder, etc. When prices boomed, I sold some and replaced them later when prices dipped again. Any idea when the FBI car will ship? I know the NYPD car is scheduled for Jan., so FBI should be in the next month or two I would imagine.
