I have a mostly stock 92 GT im guessing it has a 190-195 t stat in it....i dont like they way it sits on the temp gauge right in the middle will go up a hair then settle to the middle once going again...i was thinking of going with a 180 what are your opinions?

Leave it stock. There's more disadvantage to going with a colder thermostat, than there is advantage. Don't put too much faith in the stock dummy gauge, they should be used as a reference point, not as gospel.

That has nothing to do with your stat.

Rule of thumb- if it gets warm when stopped or in traffic, then its your water pump or fan, it when at highway speed it is airflow- radiator or front air dam missing.

Stock . All the colder is gonna do is result in poor fuel mileage etc . I have a 180 in my car but again completely diff story

Are you hearing pinging (detonation) when you get in and out of the pedal in high gear in heavier traffic? If not, the hotter thermostat isn't hurting you.

These old Fox's will generally creep up a little in traffic, vs running down the highway. Totally normal.

Stick with stock and fix the real issue (clogged/dirty rad or bad water pump or fan). I went with a 3 core rad, electric fans and 180 stat. My car BARELY hits 175 until I'm in dead stop and go traffic. If on the highway it might get lucky to hit 170 (fans never come on lol). I would swap it but I am not doing the work again as we are building a replacement motor as we speak. That one will likely get a stock stat in it since my cooling system is set on kill.

Im going to flush the radiator the water pump was replaced before i got it...like i said i did notice the fan clutch seemed to not have much resistance from what i remember on my 87 GT the fan had more resistance...the car cools down once driving making me this its air flow...?

If it cools when driving but not that great at low speeds (fan operating ranges) then its quite possibly a fan issue. Do you have the air deflector under the radiator support in tact still?(it moves air up into the rad/condenser from underneath)

My last one when it didnt work it free wheeled...when i bought the new one it had resistance....thats why i think this one might be bad i know they usually get a little tighter when hot....this one doesnt..

No i dont see any goop....but i know the fan doesnt seem to have resistance to it,..I took an SSP one off my turbo car i still have it might throw it on and see what happens,...the only thing i didnt like about it..IT was loud...lol you heard the fan...gushing air...which i guess is a good thing....
