Progress Thread Tanner's "there's Probably A Name For This Illness" Builds Thread

@tannerc91gt
Not surprised with the latest update. You said you always wanted one and now you're just about to get it (the vette). That's a sweet vette too! However that Cobra you just sold was pure sex! I do however get why you jumped ship. Congrats and I hope the purchase works out for you.

Just hung new lights in the garage, getting ready to insulate it. Only had 3 lights before. Has 10 now.

Got 12 outlets I'm planning to run next month also. Just happy to have a nice starting point

I see a little room for a lift :D

Some 48" lights down low and parallel to the floor will help a lot when wrenching under cars. If you like the idea I would run the conduit and place boxes before insulating. :nice:

Yeah there's always another thing I wanna do there but I'm trying to fly under the radar lol

I'll post something in this thread this afternoon.
The whole "leave the corvette alone" thing went like you'd expect.
Gotta keep a nice variety in my thread of random half-projects

Been trying to hang around and keep up with Mike and Collin's threads as well as the other big threads on 5.0 talk (I can't seem to find much interest in the SW stuff lately).

Obviously my new car doesn't really fit the theme around here but the Corvette Forum is HORRIBLE for any decent conversation or discussion. 99% of responses are vendor referrals and guys who say "it cost this much to have a shop do it". F*ck that.

Anyways, I did a pretty poor job of just enjoying the car for what it was when I bought it.
It was super freakin clean, super freakin stock and SUPER freakin quiet. I bought a glass roof for it. Don't think I'll ever go back to the painted top.

So began the phases of ruining what was an 11,000 mile, driven to the golf course, warrantied old-man-mobile.

Phase 1:
First thing that had to go was the stock wheels. I'm a card carrying member of the black wheel fad so I bought Black ZR1 reps.

Phase 2:
Then the quiet stock mufflers started to wear on my mind. Car had nice Longtubes and a catted X when I bought it but the PO had put stock mufflers back on it. No Bueno.
So I picked up a used Corsa Extreme package with 4" tips. In really good condition for about 50% off new price. They're awesome. Quiet below 3k and they scream when you lay into it.

I also picked up a set of splash guards to break up the plain sides the base model cars have. Planning to do a widebody conversion in the future but that's a big chunk of change.
Also swapped in a Z06 spoiler, don't care much for the full length stuff.
Changed out all the interior lights and reverse lights with LEDs. Looks a lot cleaner in my opinion.

This was during my "just gonna do minor stuff because the car is just fine how it is" phase.

I'm in constant denial of my illness.

Fast forward to the beginning of October (so about 45 days of owning it I guess?) and it's in pieces all over the garage getting the cam swapped out. Aka Phase 4.

Went with a Vengeance Racing grind
235/243 .621/.624 113 LSA. Fairly aggressive for a stock headed non-flycut LS3.
They packed 10 pounds of crap in a 5lb bag in the engine bay for sure. So the biggest hurdle was pulling the steering rack and all the accessories.

Back together and fired it up, ran like absolute hell and had to send the Ecu out for a base tune. It'll get tuned in the spring but it's drivable for now and I love it. I also bought a nitrous outlet plate kit for it but sold it for a small profit a few days later after I couldn't bring myself to drill holds and mount a bottle.

As for the garage, when I bought the house it had 3 dim bulbs and 2 outlets. A friend came over and we threw up 9 bright lights, I hung my florescent light over where I park the car (and quadruple secured it, still waiting on the day it falls). Also added 16 outlets and bought a rebuild kit for my garage door opener. $22 and works like new for an opener built in '97. Still needs insulated but that'll be down the road.

Currently I'm looking for a rolling fox chassis to start another project build. Wanting to do a painfully slow build this time around, knowing I've got the other car to actually go drive. We'll see.
