Clunking sound

Every time I accellerate from a stop, I hear a kinda quiet "clunk" sound coming from what seems to be the rear driver side wheel. This noise also happens sometimes when I am making a righthand turn. Any Ideas what this might be?

I just took the wheel spacer I had on and checked it out, its fine. I retorqued that down and the wheel down but the noise still occurs.

If you still have the stock shocks and struts on it will feel like a whole new car when you replace those crappy stockers... The shocks could be so shot they could be making the sound you mention.

I have the same year as you and when I did mine it made a huge diff.

i didnt see an aftermarket exhaust in your sig, but same thing happened to me, and it was the over-axle tubing rubbing on the frame. you can still check it out, its an option.

I am having this same issue. It seems to stop when I get up to speed or use the brakes. After I'm up to speed it stops and does not make the same noise for the duration of the trip.

I have bad bushings on my trailing arms, but I'm pretty sure they aren't responsible for this clunk because it sounds like a different noise.

Any ideas? Suggestions? I looked underneath and the bolts all look tight. Brake line looks normal. The shocks were replaced less than a month ago.

Everything seems tight. If it is one of those, why would it stop making noise after the first little bit of the trip and not make it again for the remainder? (Including stopping and starting)

My thought was that once power is applied, the pinion hits against the ring gear, causing the sound. Once cruising, there is constant contact and no noise.

Have you checked your shock mounting bolts. Worn out drive shaft U joints could also be a strong suspect.

I've checkedevery bolt that I can think of. The bushings are bad on the trailing arms, but those are making a slightly different sound. I just had the shocks replaced so that was my original thought (thinking loose bolts or something like that). But the noise is only coming from the driver's side and it doesn't happen when I am braking or up to speed. Do you think that a loose brake pad could be an issue? It also won't make noise at the same time it normally does if I have just driven it recently.
