Tires

I'll have a look under there to see how much room there is. What is the drawback of removing the quad shock?

Anyone got pics of 285/40's on their foxbody?

Do you aftermarket arms in the back? If stock you might have wheel hop without the quads(seems to be 50/50-some do some don't). With good arms/bushings you'll be fine to remove the quads. Just for something to do I put my quads back on. I didn't notice a difference with them on or off. I'm running 17x9 wheels with 275/40-17 Nitto's. I do have a slight rub if I have people in the back seat and go over dips/bumps. My car is lowered a little also.

I have 275's now but the compound is too hard so poor traction. I know that softer compound alone will help dramatically. My main reason to opt for 285's is to have a bit taller tire. With the newly added boost, the 3.73 gears are running out pretty quick.

The extra size is in width not height so no help on the rpms.

I understand what you're saying. All I meant was its not going to make a noticeable difference. I'm not saying don't do it any help is a plus. I just wouldn't spend the money in new tires(300+$) if I needed less rpm. I'd swap the ring and pinion(3.55). I know it's more expensive if paying for labor but you will have a better combo. .3" is what maybe 200 rpms(I'm to tired to look it up)?

I lied lol. I looked it up. There is about 1mph difference at any given rpm and you would still rpm thru the powerband the same(very minute difference). Just playing devils advocate and thinking out loud. Not trying to be abrasive...just saying

I'm with ya no problem. The 275 Hankook's on there now are more than half down and they suck for traction. When I get new tires, I'll bump up to 285's. Bit wider, bit taller, fill the wheel well better. I'm thinking Nitto 555's. Exactly whats on my Vette now and I'm very happy with them.

BTW, the Vette has been to the track and I know how fast it is. It was probably faster then the Stang before the V3, but after, I doubt it.

I looked under there and it's clear to me that 285's will rub the quad shocks because the 275's are only a hair away right now. Like I said I have aftermarket upper and lower control arms with poly bushings as well as reinforced tq boxes. So, you guys are saying I don't even need the quad shocks on there? I won't notice them being gone? Just wanna make sure. I'm stubborn like that ya know....
