Just a thought for plumbing the new double scoops to work.
Sorry it's a pic of an SN car
Also sorry you are Hung over
:D
:puke:
Appreciate that, and the hangover is long gone. There is no room under the hood for any plumbing,. The air inlets would be strictly to allow the under hood temps to be reduced. Air for the turbo inlet is coming from under the right front fender.

I fully planned to do something on the car today.....That was yesterday.

The reality of last night changed that plan. Waking up on the bathroom floor at 3:47AM, after deciding staying there was the safest bet to ensure being able to make it to the vomitorium has left me a little shaky.

Probably better to avoid using angle grinders with unguarded .040 thick cut off wheels spinning at 13,000 rpm for today......

Yeah,....I'll just sit and watch Mythbusters.
It seems you and I found the same demise, only I still had to drive us back from Austin (3hr) yesterday.

Whether or not you are a fan of the "steel clams" that are the latest revision for the hood scoops, today they became reality.

There is still some welding left to do, but they are permanent as of this update.

They are indeed open. Water and air will get in. The holes you see at the back of the hood are carry overs from Gila hood V1.0. I figure if I'm letting air into the engine compartment (that isn't necessarily going through the radiator, coolers, and condenser), it will benefit me to have a way for all that hot assed air to get out.

When you cut this part of the hood and expose the outer frame it becomes apparent that this part rusts because it cant be painted. Now that it's open i'll attempt to rectify that.

Now I know you're thinkin......Mike, what about cold water getting on red hot glowing turbo components? To which I'd say I know that's a potential problem. But,......The hood scoop opening is well in front of the turbo, and that rear mounted vent,(while directly over the down pipe) will get blocked so air can get out but drain water will divert to the driver side of the hood. The primary design consideration is to help the thing to run cooler when it's 98 degrees outside, and 85% humidity (typical Alabama Summer). If I get caught out in the rain, I'll be one of those guys sitting under an interstate bridge until it stops.

So,, if you were a fan of the old school Cyclone style scoops,..I hate it for you.

Now that I see both scoops on the hood, I like them better. It's a good look, Mike.
Well see there you go,..... One poor little clam by himself gets boo'd,... Add his fraternal twin brother to the room,...and we got a party.
It may be time for a turbo blanket to cover the hot turbo section...
That would at least protect the turbo itself from the rain.
How can you ever get the whole story, when you only watch a few episodes?
Good thing I got MikeFlix.;)

You mean like this?^^^^^:shrug::shrug::shrug:

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the input as always. Trying to get this front end completed so I can get everything mocked back up, and pushed out of the garage.........again.

Can we get a "Mike" logo to replace the Ford logo? Power by Mike would be much more appropriate in my opinion

I share a similar sentiment, While I don't like the new scoops as much as the prior scoops they do look far better commingling among themselves as opposed to being left out in the cold all alone.
Maybe if I had them wrapped in green metallic?

No,....I have truly bitten off more custom work than I can chew already.

Mike, I feel like we are somehow related as I read through your updates. Back when I cut up my stock hood and never made time to finish it, I nearly bought this for my car as a replacement.

Eerily similar to your current design, and the only reason I didnt go with it was the fact it let in water and didnt vent hot air out the back (mind you this was before you were doing your Gila hood)... Now that I have a nice DD, and the stang can stay in the garage on rainy days as well as winter, I am going to finish the heat extractor hood I started. So basically, I am also succumbing to perils of letting some water maybe fall in the engine bay (definitely during washes), and going back on what was once being ruled out. All that being said, maybe we are second or third cousins, twice removed on my mom's side?

Nice scoops. You had a perfect copy of an Olds 442 hood going. Love the 442's, but like the look of the current set up better.

The job market, a market I hate shopping at. Lost my job in Nov. My resume is a 25 year aircraft mech with experience from Cessna 150's to C-5 Galaxy's and most everything in between. Even have an active security clearance on it. Everyone's advetising, but no one seems to be calling.
