My power steering pump is leaking and I want to attempt to rebuild it. It doesn't appear to be that difficult from some of the YouTube videos that I've viewed but some of them are pretty vague in details and a few are nothing more than some Poser with a video camera that I wouldn't trust to rebuild a bicycle. There are lots of rebuilt pumps offered online but I would prefer to keep my original. I'm sure there are a few of you that have installed an o-ring/gasket kit in yours and I would like some "first hand knowledge" if you have a moment. Thanks in advance.

How did your rebuild turn out? I recently put a new pump in my existing reservoir. It was a pretty simple process, much easier than rebuilding the core pump. I bought the tool to help with the removal and reinstall if the pulley. I also took the opportunity to clean up the aluminum mounting bracket. Quick hit with a sandblaster, and clear powder coated it. (Turned out a bit shiny, so some 0000 steel wool to dull it back down to a more factory look.)

It was straight forward until I dropped the little spider and the slppers and springs went every where. Its noisy. Tried bleeding it to no avail. But it works. I wasn't able to replace the insert in the control valve at the 3/8 conmection. So it leaks a bit.
