Air Conditioning Problem

I have an air conditioning situation on my 2002 4.6. 5spd.

When I accelerate the AC starts to warm a little, and it also does this when I down shift. This all happens under normal easy driving conditions. The Freon is good, and it has good head pressure on the compressor...

Any advice as to what it could be?

Slipping belt? Stab in the dark there.

One thing to rule out is an intake vacuum leak. Also check the small vacuum line that runs through the firewall. What might be happening is when accelerating there isn't enough vacuum to hold the damper motors closed and the vacuum operated dampers are changing back to their default positions. Normally the system has a check value and holds vacuum long enough such that accelerating doesn't have an effect.

Not a bad idea to rule out a slipping belt. However if this were the cause there would be other evidence of belt slippage such as rubber debris or noise.

Finally. Did you know that the AC is programmed to cut off when the throttle is wide open (WOT)? Therefore it would be NORMAL for the AC to cut out when punching it.

This. All of them do this. I have heard over time the issue gets more noticeable once the car gets some miles or need a tuneup.
