That same amount of money spent on mods for a Coyote will more than cover the cost of intake/exhaust/tune with money to spare and get you well over the 400-410rwhp mark. Still not as much as the Cobra, no doubt.....but when you consider it's being done without the use of a supercharger, its pretty impressive none the less.
I honestly forgot where I was going with this......
If you look at Oem's mods above.
His swap headers alone were probably a grand. More than likely he's got a catback and some type of mid pipe. Just that stuff eats up more than the entire $1500 in mods.
I didn't mention the exhaust because I just assume any swap has the exhaust modded, can't see how it wouldn't have to be. Same with the fuel setup and CAI.
These things are a given in a swap. I'd call them a wash.
Even if I needed the fuel system (which I do not, but I do have), knocking money off for that would be like punishing the 03 cobra for making an extra 85rwhp and 125ftlbs of torque. The coyote makes a lot less power than a pullied, that's not much you can do about that.
You have a point on the idler and the meter. I disregarded them.
I do have a the larger tank and heat exchanger, but neither of those add any power to my bottom line. Would have made the same with or without them. Just takes longer to heat soak in traffic.
I don't dislike the coyote, I just don't see what it does that makes it a value to swap into a fox.
Since when was anyone around here satisfied with 400rwhp? Because you better be, if you want more than that you have to spend another 6 grand.
I may be coming off as a coyote hater, i'm really not.
The OP asked coyote or 03 cobra and if he wants the most for his money no matter how it's spent, i'm will to bet the 03 cobra comes out cheaper and makes more power.
Is it easier to install? That depends on his skill level with wiring, I think it really only took about 8 wires to make it run.
