Throttle Body Diameter

What is the factory throttle body diameter on the 2014 coyote 5.0? I'm looking into getting an after market throttle body and also need to know what would be a good size upgrade from factory to optimize gains...on an otherwise stock setup? Thanks in advance.

Upgrading the throttle body is basically useless.. There's plenty of threads i've come across that say you actually lose power increasing the throttle body with the stock manifold etc. The only time the throttle body is really beneficial is if you go forced induction, otherwise that $500 could be used somewhere else. The stock TB flows good enough, and i'm pretty sure its the same diameter as the boss 302 TB, which uses a much more aggressive intake manifold..

Thanks for the info. I've heard TB really only adds 5-8 hp with a tune. Guess that's why I was kind of up in the air. Would a new intake be a better upgrade given price to power output?

5-8 Hp i would say is pushing it.. Especially if you're talking peak numbers. I could see a 5hp gians somewhere on the upper end of the power curve. You will also need a tune. By intake are you talking about an Intake manifold or the air filter and tube to TB? I learned the hard way on this one.. My first suggestion is DO NOT buy an intake that doesn't require a tune. I bought a K/N for $360 that didnt require a tune and had to sell it to pick up a JLT which does require a tune because it wasnt letting enough air in to my boss 302 manifold that I put on as well. Only then will you gain power from an intake. There really is no modifications that help you gain power without an aftermarket tune.. If you are wanting to make your car faster without voiding the warranty on an aftermarket tune, i would recommend some better tires than the factory ones, along with wider. If you havent already, a nice axelback exhaust really makes the car more fun to drive. If you have any questions on modifications or tunes or any of that let me know. I did a bit of modifications this spring so far, along with talking to my tuner about these 5.0's.. Which is one of his specialties.
 
As already stated, a bigger throttle body on its own won't get you anything. In regards to cold air intakes, the stock air box on the coyotes is actually pretty good. The gains advertised are really the product of the tune. Unless you want the look and sound of the CAI, I would just get a tune. FYI, the real benefit of the boss intake manifold is the ability to push redline higher because of its intake runners. It will cause a small drop in torque at low speed but allows for significant gains in peak hp because you can wind the engine out to higher rpm without a drop in the power curve. I know Ford also released a cobra intake but I don't know how it compares to the Boss. The main thing to think about is what your plans for the car are. Then pick out the mods that will work together towards that goal. Maybe all you need is a tune, gears and tires. Or you can blow a wad of cash and just get a centri. [emoji6]
