SN95 350hp Possible With Bolt Ons?

I think the issue with duplicates or the same topics over and over is that without them, no conversations would actually exist. There really isn't any topic on stangnet that hasn't been covered, so if everyone searched and found their answer there would be nothing for us to read. It's a catch 22, we want people to search, but if they do and revive an old thread, people bust their balls, if they find it and move on, there is no discussion and if they don't search and make a post sometimes their topic gets treated with no respect.
Bottom line, the site needs newbs to ask common questions to survive.

There are many times where I write up a response to a topic, then don't post it. Sometimes it's just better to say nothing at all.

As for the original topic here, 350rwhp is possible, I've seen it with afr 165's. It takes all high end parts, quality installation and you will give up some power down low. While I like gt40x heads, it's likely not happening with them.
+1 to the gt40x heads, I'm using them because I got a brand new set for next to nothing. AFR's are the way to go to me.

I guess it all depends on what you want this site to be.

If the site exists purely to re-answer questions already asked by a newb,how many times are the ones that stay here gonna be content to do that?. Even the real "sympathetic" ones that busted me for my harsh reply?

Some guy comes on here , does his homework, get's his answer, and never contributes,...You never had a member anyway. I don't "kill" every kid that comes on here, (MOF I ignore 99% of them) And leaving them to their own, even the simple "How much power" guys ask one question, and you never see them again either. Again,..same outcome.

I would agree that as far as bolt ons goes it's not going to happen.
Typically, heads/cam/intake ate not considered bolt ons, nor is forced induction (blower/turbo).
350hp at the wheels with a turbo or blower on an otherwise stock motor can be achieved, but it typically takes more than the bottom of the barrel/economy "kits".
If heads/intake are considered bolts ons, then even then it's not likely to happen without a decent cam, which is definitely in the motor, so, not really a bolt on.
As far as heads/cam/intake package goes, I'll offer the below example from a guy on another popular mustang forum;

123k mile 302 in an 86 GT
Twisted Wedge 11R 190
Systemax 2 - ported lower
Cam from previous build (ground for AFR 165s and ported Cobra intake with 1-5/8" headers)
1-3/4 LTs
4.10s
350hp/341tq to the tires


He has been 11.9's at 116+mph on stock suspension.
I'm certain there is more in that setup with a proper custom cam... more yet again with decent lifters/springs/valve train and a custom cam that takes advantage of that valve train.

My engine was referenced above (thanks) but it is a poor example of what it takes to get there if you are being smart about it. I was on a mission to see what i could do using stock heads (I'm odd like that) and to get there required going relatively high end on everything else, which is expensive. Couple friends and I joke that I have the most expensive stock headed engine in history. It is impressive for what it is (stock heads) but in no way the economical way to make HP on a 302.

347 with hci. Said it before and I'll say it again. Edelbrock has a dyno video on their site with an rpm II top ended 347 making 500/500 at the fly wheel.
 
Fully built to me means there were no bolts leftover.
I've never experienced that before, I think you're lying.....

I always thought that the body shop fairies that @madmike1157 talks about come around the shop at night and deposit extra nuts, bolts, and clips with the vehicle for their entertainment!

Nope. Shows what you know about your lesser demons, imps, and fairies. A Bodyshop fairy is a good thing, whose purpose is to make the straight panel dreams and shiny paint wishes of all the good little boys and girls come true. The creature you're talking about is called a bolt troll, notorious for either removing or leaving extra fasteners, taking amusement in the chaos they create by leaving 20 head bolts, 17 washers ,and 19 nuts.

We touched on that already, RD, but pull up a chair! Collin pointed out that his turbo system will bolt on... Joe pointed out that hci is a bolt on, and I stated that pretty much all engine parts bolt on...

You could weld them on I guess, but I wouldn't recommend that. :shrug:
 
Just like to add that chasing a peak hp number is not a good technique for making parts selection. Professional drag racers (where power is most important) don't obsess about their peak dyno number. An engine that does what you want it to do is more important.

Mike, there's a new one. "Can I make x-horsepower with weld on parts?" I like it and think it would solve a couple of boost run off issues I dealt with a few years back. So who's starting the new thread?
